Ruin Me 0.19 Preview and 0.18 Behind the Scenes

Hello, perverts. I hope you're all doing well. I hope you're exploring the things that get you off, and thinking about how to indulge in them in a healthy way that's kind to yourself and others.

The recent poll for play scene priorities is complete! Center of Attention patrons chose to have Theresa dominate the player, which should be fun. I'm not sure if it'll happen this release, but it will be done soon. I'm still thinking about what the next poll should be; I'm considering adding outfit customization for Theresa, in which case I might have folks pick a new one to put in the game.

We've hit 50 patrons! I'm going to wait to start dedicated work on the bonus reward (a CYOA image game) until the start of the month, to make sure folks stick around, but I'm already mapping out how it'll work in my head.

Problematic Kinks

The training scene I added in release 18 let you get pretty demeaning in parts! Some of my personal kinks are in areas that interact in some way with fucked-up stuff, and I recognize that writing Theresa in such a way that she enjoys it doesn't particularly mitigate that fucked-up-ness. 😅

All of BDSM and kink has this basic issue: you're doing things that, if you did them to someone unconsenting, would be horrific abuse. But one important aspect of where queer theory interacts with BDSM is that kink culture highlights that informed consent is what transforms an act from assault into intimacy.

Insulting someone or beating someone without their consent is wrong, and so culture generally regards kink as outré or risky. But that betrays a certain hypocrisy in general culture, because any sex without consent is wrong.

This is totally a nuanced topic; there's lots of room to discuss exactly what kinks are too risky or politically-charged, or under what circumstances consent is difficult or questionable. But while writing the verbal humiliation scene, I was thinking a lot about how layers of fiction (both the fictional world of the game and the fiction of kinky roleplaying) mitigate potential harm and let us explore things that would be harmful to look into in other circumstances.

Next Release

I'm working on a new horror expedition, and it feels like it's been a while! I'm currently calling this one "The Abundant Horn", and it involves sex toys and body horror. It's fun to be able to get a little weirder now that we're in Act III.

This expedition is kicked off by Byron Key, and I'd like to take the opportunity to flesh him out a bit more. If I have time, I'll implement his play scene, which will be a bit different than other major NPC's, since he's asexual. His scene will also serve as a sort of hint system in case you've missed something and don't feel like poring over every location.

Next on my list is the play scene mentioned above, where Theresa doms the player! I also have more little bugs and enhancements to polish up and will fit those in where I am able.
