Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Heya folks. Got a few updates which come both as a result of life happenings, and just a few ways I want to change how how we're doing things here. Firstly, as mentioned in a previous video, I'm putting together a new PC since my partner will be taking the work laptop for college - it's a pretty decent set-up, so streaming may be in the cards soon. However, the build plus transferring all my work and software is going to take some time, so it's unlikely I'll manage to fit a video by the end of the week between that and "actual work". This is actually somewhat of a good thing, because of the second update.

I'm going to be changing my upload day from Saturdays to Thursdays. Saturday was always a convenience because it meant the vid was done by Friday and then I could chill out through the weekend and start up on Monday. However, talking with Brit, I've decided this regime change might be good for channel growth - often on weekends people have a whole bunch of stuff they were wanting to get around to (games, movies, etc), which leaves a channel like mine in a tricky situation where I don't have much of an audience and those I do have aren't really 'cemented'. Thursdays make me more of a quick lunch-time/after-work time-filler, which could be a better position for me. So, long story short, next video will be the Thursday after next, with weekly updates continuing after that.

If you follow me on Twitter, I've spoken in the past about my channel being suppressed by YouTube in a fairly transparent way - I get 2-3% of my views from recommendations, meaning YouTube is simply not suggesting my videos to new viewers (despite my content regularly relating to current events/hot topics), and I'm now getting messages from subscribers saying my videos are not showing up on their feed, meaning YouTube is not suggesting my videos to current viewers. As you may have noticed, this is leading to a precipitous drop in views and subscribers, as YouTube perpetuates a self-fulfilling prophecy in which my channel is "dying" or "irrelevant" and therefore further stunts my ability to even get my videos seen. As far as growth through other means, I'm having similar issues with Twitter (which has also adopted the "if you're already popular we'll show people your tweets, if you aren't we'll show them less" model), and Reddit's absurd "self-promotion" rule means I can't have my content on most relevant boards unless a fan posts it for me (which, again, not already popular so that's unlikely). To end the pity party, I just want to do what I can to change things up, if only for my own sanity - hopefully this new slot will fit better with people's schedules, and y'all will enjoy what I have cooked up.
