As such, when promos for the new Venom film went out and fans started up with some complaints about Eddie Brock's "unfitting" characterization as a rough-and-tumble Bronxite but also an educated journalist... I felt a little something. This, despite the fact that I really couldn't care less about the film itself. So, I decided to do a deep dive into the history of Eddie Brock's characterization both on- and off-screen, as a way of introducing the topic of 'typing' and media representations of class.
