There are few things more frustrating to me than 'nuanced' takes on political issues that basically amount to "So you see, both sides have contributed to this problem". That's taken itself to the Nth degree with the James Gunn situation, in which a dishonest right-wing actor has displayed a pattern of behaviour in deliberating mischaracterising and lying about his opponents to exploit so-called 'callout culture'. But I'm getting too ahead of myself.

James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, was fired by Disney after a series of old tweets resurfaced in which he made light of rape, molestation and pedophilia. Now, we find ourselves in an odd situation with seemingly no consensus one way or the other. There's a societal disconnect here - and I've decided to explore it.
