Chapter 48

Alan comes home from work and loosens his tie. The lowest on the totem pole, he was cramped in a windowless cube and performed the busywork that had built up in the office from a lack of newbies over the years. It wasn’t a terrible position, he had learned, and in his off hours he debated whether or not a college degree would have landed him a better job than what he was able to get. As soon as feasibly possible he desired to continue his education, foot in the door or not he was likely to hit a ceiling without at least a bachelors. Shifting away from an accounting firm and into a preferred computer programming job would also certainly require Alan to return to his original plan.

Sydney on the other hand was also gearing up to enter the workforce. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Alan had started, but the blue haired girl had put a finger on his lips to shut him up.

“I want to. And honestly, I need to. I’m not oblivious to the costs you’re undertaking to feed and clothe us both, not to mention I want to have fun sometime. Dates, restaurants, movies. You name it, I want to try it. So if I have to spend two months in front of a computer finding a job that won’t raise too many questions about my appearance I’ll happily do it. Just cover for me in the meantime, I’ll do what I can around the house too. Speaking of which, I think we should talk about your parents.”

Alan swallows. “Oh no… did they stop by?”

Sydney cocks her head. “No, but that reaction is exactly what we should talk about. You can’t hide me forever, we’re going to need to get the word out that you have a girlfriend and she’s: Not. Going. Anywhere.” Accentuating the last three words with an index finger to the sternum each time, Sydney teases with a cute smile as she makes her point. “I’ve cooked another recipe from your mother’s cookbook, she certainly knows her stuff. I want to meet her, it’ll be the best for all of us if I’m going to be a part of your life.”

Alan nods, enjoying the motivation that came from Sydney’s occasionally brash personality. It had struck them both as they got to know each other more that Alan was the shy one in the relationship. Sydney took charge at times for the benefit of them both. She got to experience things she wanted to and Alan benefited as well via some decisiveness and direction. It was in pop culture and entertainment that Alan had the most say, sharing recommendations and ideas for books, movies and music for Sydney to listen to. She found her tastes to vary from Alan’s in minor ways, not liking action movies and instead enjoying romance for instance, while in other ways it was for tactile reasons. Sydney enjoyed physical books, the feeling of each page on her thumb a joy in and of itself while Alan didn’t mind his reading tablet.

That evening after a hearty dinner Sydney walked into the livingroom where Alan had set up his computer. She saw Alan browsing insurance websites and deftly flipped over his phone when she was close enough. “It’s a Friday… No work tomorrow?” She says. Taking a step backwards out of view, Alan responds at the screen before turning around.

“No, but I still need to figure out how we’re going to get you into the dental and medical systems. It wouldn’t hurt to plan for scenarios, but even something like haircuts will need to be considered eventually. Have you noticed if-” When Alan turns around fully he sees Sydney standing behind him, over him, with her shirt off and bare breasts above his head. Grey areola circle two erect nipples as she smiles slyly, positioning her chest closer…and closer to Alan’s face. It was as if she was growing, filling his view and making him fill something of his own. “Ah…Syd…”

“Yes, Alan?”

“I should… insurance…”

“You should not ‘insurance’. You should get in bed.”

And with that, Alan relented, smiling as Sydney’s act of ‘growing’ pushed her chest into his face. She was not as petite as he initially realized, a mash of flesh putting him into a peaceful bliss. Sydney blushed, cheeks becoming a darker hue as she savored the feeling of Alan’s face buried in her moderate amount of cleavage. Taking a hand to the back of his head, she held him close… and her other hand was brought up into a flex. A budding bicep, which she had only noticed yesterday, formed a bump on her arm and served to excite her. She was still learning things about herself and wasn’t telling Alan everything she discovered. Against the wall in the bathroom was a mark that read ‘5’3”, placed by Sydney when she was alone last week. She was, however, no longer that height. The young girl had somehow lengthened to a healthy 5’4” in a short matter of time, opting to not make a new mark until her Alan noticed a change. Taking her lover to bed for the 5th time this week, Sydney made sure to savor every drop when it was time for Alan to release. With curled toes and a sudden hunger taking her, Sydney wondered at the end of the night if she would be 5’5” in the morning.

Chapter 49

Alan and Sydney approach the former’s family home on the Sunday morning after Sydney had impressed upon Alan the importance of meeting his family. Ringing the doorbell, Alan stood back. He was dressed in jeans and a button-up shirt while his girlfriend had her hair in a ponytail, a sundress showing off more skin than she ever had before. Masking her ‘condition’ the best they could served a purpose in public, keeping lazy eyes away and drawing as few questions as possible. In front of the parents though, Sydney wanted to make an impression.

Alan’s mother Melissa answered the door with a wide smile, Alan’s father close behind. They were given notice that Alan was bringing a girl over… but no further details were given.

There was a moment of surprise on either’s face that quickly faded into a welcoming air. Pleasantries were exchanged and a short house tour was given. Before long, the four were seated in the livingroom.

“So go on, tell us about yourself dear. It’s no surprise you’re… different.” Melissa does her best to ease the conversation into a bit of a long overdue explanation of who Sydney was and how she so rapidly entered Alan’s life.

“Where to begin? It feels like it’s been years… But I guess that’s because it has been. Right Alan?”

“Ah, right because we met… online, several years ago.”

“Mhm. I come from a small town out west. Alan and I are both fans of comic books, chatting online once we recognized each other’s usernames from the same communities and forums.” Settling into it, Sydney relays the backstory the two had decided on. With crisp and clear enunciation and manners, it doesn’t take long for the parents to feel at ease with the cute and charismatic girl they hosted in their home.

“-And so it wasn’t a ‘relationship’ for the longest time… but we grew closer and closer as each year passed. I finally worked up the courage to visit, we went to a local café last spring called… What was it? Caffeinated Paradise?”

“That’s the one.”’

“Right. A public setting, got a feel for each other, must have gone perfectly because here we are today… I up and moved to Watertown and Alan was kind enough to similarly commit to giving a relationship a go.”

Alan’s parents stare in silence for a moment, looking back and forth at the young couple. Breaking the silence, Alan’s father George clears his throat with a two-word question. “Ahem… So, college?”

“Yeah Dad, I know. I… didn’t want to put a pause on my education but it felt like the right thing to do. I-I’ve got a job, Sydney’s going to look around as well and we’ve already moved into an apartment on the edge of town.”

“…I think you know I don’t approve, but this young lady here… I can understand.”

“I… wow, I won’t deny I wasn’t expecting you to be… thanks.” Alan relaxes as the major bomb drop ended up being a dud. His parents were supportive now and always had been, though sudden shifts in plans do wonders to instill insecurities in people.

Melissa shifts in her chair and brings the conversation back to Sydney. “Now, not to be rude, I’d like to address the elephant in the room. Dear, is there a reason you’re… I mean, is that all one big tattoo? I wouldn’t judge, just…”

“Oh, no worries. Honest. Alan and I have grown to accept people aren’t going to know what the deal is. It’s nothing to worry about, I have a unique skin condition. My doctor labeled it ‘cinis pellis’, though there’s not going to be much online about it. My skin lacks pigment… that’s all.”

“And the blue hair?” Alan’s mother says.

“Hair dye!” Sydney answers, giggling.

.

From there the tensions had eased and the rest of the morning is spent laughing and catching up. The men set themselves to fixing up the dining room while Sydney gets a moment aside with Melissa.

“I’ve been meaning to thank you, Mrs. B.”

“Dear, ‘Melissa’ is fine. And why’s that?”

“I haven’t really… cooked before, and your cookbook has been an absolute marvel for me.”

“Oh sweetie! It warms my heart to hear you say that. I suppose now I know how Alan fell for you so hard then~”

Sydney blushes as she turns away, mind going to lewd places. “That’s certainly a chunk of it, I’d say.” Giving the young woman a side-eye, Melissa peeks at the doorway and her voice lowers a bit.

“I’m sure Alan’s tendencies have also played a part in your relationship, hmmm? Comic books, pff.”

“W-what?”

“Nothing, dear~” Melissa walks away with a slight sing-song tone and begins to prepare dinner, the older woman inviting Sydney to witness the making of a familiar recipe firsthand. Before long, the four had all enjoyed a meal and were saying their goodbyes for the night.

.

“They were nice.” Sydney says as she walks down the sidewalk with Alan’s hand in her own. Looking over into Alan’s eyes, he nods in agreement.

“I could have only hoped it would go so well. They want to see more of you and they’re not the types that would be shallow about that kind of thing. …Hey, are you…”

Alan looks into Sydney’s blue eyes, something in the back of his mind signaling something is off. The pair stop walking and look at one another under the streetlight, two individuals of equal height alone on the sidewalk. Just when Alan begins to question Sydney’s choice of footwear, she pulls him into a deep kiss… distracting the young man from any further questions.

A few seconds pass and they both sink into the embrace… Sydney’s sandaled foot popping up as she savors the moment. Her height was secret she wanted concealed for just a bit longer, fully aware of the changes hitting her each night.
