Welcome to a beautiful July day at my mother’s house, everyone! I’m already laughing when I round the corner and hear ‘California Girls’ by the Beach Boys, an oldie that I know my mom only likes because of grandma’s tastes. It’s fine by me, summer weather is prime for surf rock and I know you’re all excited for what else comes around this time of year… Bikini week!

While I chat with Mom in her bedroom window I noticed Beats giving Daisy something of a sassy flex. She goes to the gym twice as often as I do and she certainly has the gains to show for it. My own gains however, are similarly crazy. I had, well, the biggest gain ever this month. I’ve never grown exactly an inch and a half before, might have rounded up once or twice, but if my measurement this time is right then it’s a new record.

Imagine my surprised giggle when Daisy shouted ‘Cannonball!!’ and splashed me! It’s a treat, my mother installing an inground pool in the backyard. She’s welcomed all my friends to use it whenever we’d like, the east coast climate meaning there’s a window of June thru September of when we can swim. Might as well get as much use out of it as possible, right? We’ve invited the gang over, it’ll be a great day with good food, music and company.

I owed you all an underwater shot from when we enjoyed Lake Escape, so I hope a plastic bag helps keep the lens dry. In the hour before our friends came over we had the pool to ourselves. Spacious as it is, we’ve got a lot of growing girls in our group now and even the sizable dimensions of my mother’s pool might not serve us long term. I… have definitely continued to grow. There’s something different about how I’m feeling though…

Like, growing so much in the first five years really concerned me. I had to adjust to a lot. When I’d get adjusted, more changed. These days though, almost crawling through doors is… normal? Eating large portions, almost walking over people has been the latest development but… I don’t know. I’m not as worried as I used to be, ya know? Enjoy the summer everyone. I will.
