Recommendation: Price For Freedom (by Team Dead Deer!)

Hello everyone!

On the ongoing subject of "What other adult games I would recommend you check out apart from our own", I would like to pose three questions to you all! 

1 - Do you like ... Monstergirls?

2- Do you like... STRONK girls? In the sense of both the ab-chiseled body and the moxy mind? 

3- Do you like... The idea of an adult game with a distinct, exotic, and truly unique setting to explore? 

Then the Price For Freedom by Team Dead Deer is probably gonna up your alley! :D 

Set in the bazaar-ish, mystical and sandswept Free Trade City of Kaldea, the Price For Freedom follows Redic, a man looking to move on from his past and start life anew. But life is not so simple in Kaldea, for the Free Trade City's wealth and opportunity brings great promise - and also draws many jealous eyes, greedy plotters, and the threat of war. Gangland violence, politicking, intrigue, and shadowy cults, all contest one another - and Redic finds himself in the midst of the fray. 

Kaldea is populated by much more than just regular ol' human beings! In fact, it's a richly-inhabited world with an amazing, immersive variety of species and races, many among them monstergirls (and many stronk chiseled ones, did I mention that already!? >:D). 

The game itself is actually a separate continuation of, or at least part of the same worldbuilding, as a preexisting webcomic of the same name (set 87 years before the game begins), and both are really worth your time imho! My personal recommendation would be to read the webcomic first, and if that's to your liking, then the game will definitely spark your interest too! 

Speaking of the game - this is no quick gamebuild designed to hold adult content! The creators definitely intend to create a fully-fledged game with devoted mechanics designed to complement the content. It's an ambitious and worthy undertaking imho, but a little clunky in it's current state. There's no real devoted tutorial (although if you're familiar with turn-based hexagonal battlefields it should be a bit intuitive), but apart from that it wowed me with its interface. However, as the game moves along it feels like more of a chore, but that may be because it's not fully fleshed out yet. The wait times between turns are a bit of a drag and the combat gets repetitive and not organically challenging, but there is the option to skip it, so, that's always good!

Onto the juicy stuff - the ADULT content! Again, I stress: Stronk, lewdable monstergirls. Mhmmm. I think that sums up my enjoyment of it. 

Now, I'm a bit torn here, because I loved the characters and the scenes available! However, the variations per scene aren't too plentiful, and you do need to work at getting them. My main criticism is honestly that there's not enough of it! There's loads of text which I did enjoy but not enough artwork to go around and I was left craving just a bit more that what was offered. 

Also, regarding the game's progression - if you know anything about me you'll know I like choices and pathways and varied endings. :>

Unfortunately the game is quite linear in its execution, with a lack of actions or choices, so it feels more like you're in along for the ride rather than influencing world events, which seems like a major missed opportunity given the amazing setting we find ourselves in.

So, strong points - AMAZING setting, super unique and original, and the characterisations and worldbuilding, especially with the various factional disputes and the multitude of races and monstergirls and their innate differences both physically and culturally are an A++ for me. Properly animated gameplay and combat and just great ambition and ideas that are being slowly executed to fruition. Weak points - after the initial 'wow' factor the combat drags on a bit, and lack of choices and player input.

Aha! And before I forget, Claire's gal pal Charlotte is actually directly inspired by one of the characters in Price For Freedom!

How did this happen?! Well, the story is, the character in question from Price For Freedom, Verona, was drawn by Tarakanovich as fanart, and I follow Tara so I noticed her then, loved the look of it and had Charlotte take major design inspiration from her. And now we coincidentally have two of her! 

Which is awesome, imho, because there's never enough freckled, busty redheads with motherly personalities <:3
