Blog: Claire's World

Hello all! Today we're going to be featuring a bit of worldbuilding for a change! Shown above is the world where Claire's adventures takes place, stylized map courtesy of Nikki!

The Known World is 'split' into two entities, the 'Old World' Continent, and the 'New World' of the Isles. During a particularly bloody period in the Continent's history, known as the Crimson Century, many people fled the mainland and colonized the four Isles. Centuries later, after the Isles are settled and developed, Claire's adventures begin.

In the start, Claire's goal is to flee from the Continent when it is invaded by dark forces from the deep western jungles.

Once Claire successfully seeks passage away from the Continent, from that point on the focus is entirely on the four Isles.

Although the focus is on the Isles, that is not to say characters from the Continent won't make an appearance. With the invasion that displaces Claire from her home mainly targeting the central part of the Continent, the northern part of Nordheim and the southern part of Ankharad are mostly untouched (for now).

This ^, I was also thinking of Claires bad end if she was caught by the pigmen she wasn't killed so her mothers probably not dead either, just taking a lot of pig cock. Of course the mind broken part could be she just becomes extermely depraved and she can't escape therefore bad end but maybe not mind broken in the sense she can no longer function as human. I still think its feasible for it be end gole but like Looners said not soon to come.

Her mom's almost deffo alive (and breeding pigboys) and can be rescued, tho mindbroken, if she can be found. Her dad's fate is far more unknown/likely to be dead. And rescuing parents has been pondered as the likely endgame, but it's still a while off so as to how it happens is anyone's guess.

Kinda reminds me of the GoT map.

Doctor Fate

taking in consideration any monster encouter is a bad end, and the world she lives in, she knows shes good as dead, unless it comes out as a quest of some how she fines out shes ok.

Leveler All

I don't know if it was mentioned before but will Claire in the future go back to rescue her mother as a badass warrior? or perhaps a rich whore who hired mercenarys?

An endgame is a possibility! However, Claire's Quest is designed to be open-ended, so instead of funneling the player down a linear path, the idea is to let you explore the Isles and do whatever you want. Similar to Skyrim, we might implement a "main quest" that just runs alongside all the other quests and doesn't press you into completing it. The way it works right now, is that the start of the game takes you to either Rathpike or Valos, and once you get enough money + attributes you can go to Sorraine, and then finally Trissengrad, which is designed as the most difficult and dangerous of the Isles.

Is details like this that give a sence of scale, we don't need a world map, just the part where everything is going down,

Leveler All

like the map gives me a nice idea of what it looks like

Bladestorm

I could be wrong but I feel a snow biome in the future

Mystery

Not sure if this has been communicated or if you don't want to disclose it but is there an overall story motivating Claire forward through the islands with an endgame taking place on the last island? Or is it more of an escape and progress through the islands then you're done and live happily ever after. (disclaimer: I haven't played any of the demos past the original hook town one. I follow the game progress and artwork but I'm waiting until the final product to explore the quest lines etc.)

Angel Girl

I expected nothing less from you huys
