Yu-Gi-Oh Spirit Duelist c4

“What is that?” Jaden asked, confused, Never seen a card like this before.

“Of course you don’t know, Slifer slacker, this is Chthonian Polymer, a trap that can be used only when my opponent uses a polymerisation.

I can take control of the monster which you just created by sending my reborn zombie to the graveyard.” With a hand motion, the zombie monster disappeared, and Flame Wingman went to Chazz's side.

The Slifer looked nervous for a bit as he checked his cards.

“Since my Flame Wingman was a special summon, I can still summon a monster,” Jaden said as he selected a card and placed it in defence mode.

“I summon Elemental Hero Clayman in defence mode and end my turn.” The Slither ended the turn, to which Chazz grinned as he then drew his card.

“My turn! I summon Cthnonian Soldier in attack position!” Another monstrosity appeared on the side of Chazz.

“This guy really likes his undead,” Raynor commented from the side.

“You have no idea… however, this one is not undead, but a warrior. But I know what you mean… His deck is full of these things.” The blonde girl grimaced next to him.

“Full deck?” A third voice said from the other side of the blonde girl.

“Hmm? Oh, I didn’t notice you.” Raynor looked at the second individual. He didn’t see him before!

“I hear that a lot today. I am Syrus Thusdale.” A guy on the smaller side with small glasses spoke to the duelist.

“I see. Anyway, your friend made a mistake; he should have placed a face down, because this one is going to hurt.”

As Raynor said, the Flame Wingman attacked the monster in a defensive position and destroyed it.

“And now Wingman’s special ability activates! Clayman’s attack points are dealt as damage to you!” Chazz grinned as he said that, the wingman burned the Slifer with his flames.

Jaden’s health points went down by 800.

“And now Cthnonian Soldier attacks him directly.”

The creature attacked Jaden directly and shaved another 1200 points. Leaving the Slifer with only half of his original points.

“That’s right, Slifer slacker, I am going to finish you next turn!” Chazz pointed a card at him before setting it face down.

“We shall see, Chazz, it’s my turn.” Jaden drew a card and checked it out.

“Nice!” He placed the card in his hand before taking another and dropping it in the monster field.” I summon Elemental Hero Sparkman in attack mode, now attack his Cthnonian Soldier!”

The Lightning-wielding hero attacks the black-clad warrior, destroying him in a burst of electricity.

“Cthnonian Soldier’s special ability activates. Slifer slacker, you take the same damage I just took.” Chazz laughed.

He might have lost 400 points, but so did Jaden.

Jaden didn’t react as he set a card and ended his turn.

“This is bad, that Obelisk still has Jaden’s Wingman. If he destroys Sparkman, it’s over for Jaden thanks to Wingman’s ability.” Syrus, with a nervous tone, said to the pair next to him.

“Indeed. But that face down is the key.” Raynor replied as he looked at the duel field.

“If Chazz can destroy or negate it, then your friend will lose.”

The pair looked at him and then at Jaden.

“I draw! Wingman, destroy that Sparkman and end this for me!” The Obelisk duelist ordered the Elemental Hero.

“Not so fast, Chazz! I activate my face down! Mirror Gate!”

A trap card was activated.

“This card switches our monsters! You take my Sparkman, but I take Flame Wingman!”

Just like that, the monsters switched, and Flame Wingman blasted Sparkman into dust, and Chazz took the damage of the exchange.

“You… this isn’t over, Slifer slacker! I use my quick spell card, Cthnonian Blast! I can activate this spell card when my monster is destroyed! It destroys your monster, and you take half of his attack power as damage!”

After a flurry of exchanges, Chazz still has 1,500 points, and Jaden only has 550 left.

“T-That was close!”

Syrus commented, but then the blonde next to them looked around; she heard something.

“The security is coming!” She exclaimed loudly. Jaden, who had just drawn his card, looked at her.

“It appears we will need to finish this early, Slifer Slacker.”

“C’mon! It’s still my move!” The Slifer complained.

“Didn’t you hear her? We are leaving.” Chazz turned off his duel disk and jumped down from the arena; his two buddies surrounded him as they walked away.

Chazz looked back for a second, his eyes were on Raynor for some reason.

This made the Spirit Duelist confused, as he was looking at him.

“We have to go.” The blonde girl motioned them to follow her.

“Fine, c’mon, Sy!” Jaden jumped down from the arena and followed the blonde.

The squad of four followed her.

Eventually, they left through a ventilation shaft…

“How on Earth do you know this exit?” Raynor asked her.

“I thought you were a freshman like us?” He asked her.

“I was here before, in middle school.” She explained from behind the Slifer.

“Middle school. That is interesting, I thought this place was only three years of study.”

“You thought wrong. You can join this place way before if you are good at duelling.” The girl told him about that small detail.

“I see.”

After a while, the group exited the academy building.

“Thanks for the help!” Jaden thanked her.

“Anyway, I am Jaden Yuki, and this is Syrus Thusdale.” The duelist introduced himself.

“Alexis Rhodes.” The blonde introduced herself before looking at Raynor.

“I already introduced myself.” The smaller duelist complained, Jaden joked, and he then looked at Raynor for a second.

Then behind him…

“Umm… I wanted to ask this for a while… but… why is there a floating girl behind you?” The Slifer pointed his finger at him.

“!”

The other two looked confused. Both of them looked at the Spirit Duelist as well… or tried to see her.

“Not bad. You can already see Duel Spirits.” Raynor looked pleased to see that fellow Slifer could see spirits.

“Duel… Spirits?” Syrus and Alexis needed to repeat themselves as they couldn’t believe what they were hearing.

At that moment, Raynor’s Magician’s Valkyrie turned solid behind her Duelist.

“!”

“!”

“!”

“No way! That’s Magician’s Valkyrie!” Sirus knew the duel monster.

“That’s King of Duels, Yugi Muto’s card!”

“Calling me someone’s card is a bit too much!” The girl puffed her cheeks. How dare he!

“S-Sorry!”

“That’s like saying that Feral Imp is his card, too. But half the world has it.” Raynor shrugged.

“Yep! I am Raynor’s card!” The girl hugged her duelist from behind.

“D-D-Does that mean Dark Magician Girl is real too!?” Sirus asked, and when Alexis heard that, she sighed—internally commenting to herself that these guys are still boys.

“Her? Oh, yes, she is. If things go well, Raynor will have her in his deck soon!” Valkyrie squeezed her duelist tighter.

“You are plotting something again? You know what happened the first time!” Raynor complained.

The trio looked at them. Syrus was both excited and jealous. He might see his crush, but that spirit will be with someone else.

“Wait a second. How is this even real?” Alexis looked confused, yet excited about what she was seeing before her.

“What is real?”

“Her. I thought this was a game…” The blonde was both confused and excited about the prospect that the card monster could become a reality.

“Please, don’t you remember Battle City? The first one? You know… when the weather changed with the summoning of Egyptian God Cards.”

“...I thought it was just special effects…” the girl replied, looking embarrassed for a second.

“No, we are very real. Through the cards, our worlds can interact. It began long ago… like thousands of years ago. Humans used Duel Spirits to solve their differences since the very beginning.” Magician’s Valkyrie explained with a considerably serious tone.

The blonde who was listening to her had a look of realisation.

‘The missing link! Of course! If there is a world of Duel Spirits, it’s where my brother could have gone too!’

“I-Is it possible for humans to go there?”

“Duh, how do you think MY duelist got me?” Valkyrie hugs her duelist even tighter from behind; she was very possessive of him.

“Yeah… that place is dangerous, all the duels are for keeps. If I lose, I lose in the most literal sense.” Raynor grimaced.

“...Y-You mean…” Syrus gulped down, as he had a foreboding of what that could mean!

“Your life points reach zero, your life is zero, and the body could be taken over by a Duel Spirit.”

“Yep! Though mostly that's what the dark monsters do, like fiends, undead, some dark spellcasters.” Valkyrie very casually added her two bits.

“I see. Thanks for sharing, this was… interesting. Can I speak with you later about this?” Alexis asked him with a hopeful smile.

“Sure, we can duel as well, if you want.” He smiled back.

“Me too! I wanna duel you too!” Jaden asked him with stars in his eyes.

“...Sure, we are from the same dormitory…” Raynor looked at him with a strained smile.

“Oh! Right!” Jaden joked while realising this guy was a Slifer! Just like him!

Alexis smiled while realising that this Jaden was amusing to watch. He is not a bad duelist… just a bit strange.

“Anyway, it’s getting late, I have to go.”

With that said, she turned around and began to walk towards the girls’ dormitory.

“I'll see you guys later.” She did a simple wave before walking away.

Her smile disappeared as she began to think about the new clue she got today! It turns out that Duel Spirits are real and that one could lose their lives if they are not careful.

‘That means that this Raynor is a powerful duelist if he has spirits following him.’ Now that she realised that she wants to fight him! If he is strong, maybe he could show a couple of things about them, maybe she could see them? With that in mind, she could have an easier way to find what happened to her brother several years ago.

He is a great duelist; she doesn’t believe that he could have died, no. Something else could have happened; he could be stuck in the Spirit Realm.

‘If this is true, then I could need his help!’ Something she doesn’t want to ask…but if it's the only option…

~~~
“...So…Umm…” Syrus looked at Raynor, and the Valkyrie floating behind him, the brown haired spellcaster kept hugging him, keeping her head on top of his. It looked a bit intimate…
“What?” The Spirit Duelist asked, as he felt the gaze and desire to ask something.
“How did it happen?” Eventually, the timid Slifer asked him.
“Yeah, I am interested as well. Never imagined I would see a Duel Spirit…” Jaden added his two pieces; he had the feeling that he knew of Duel Spirits before. But it never came to the front of his life before… or was it?
“I went to sleep, and then woke up in a different world… from that day, I am able to travel there.”
“Just like that?” The pair looked surprised! Simple sleep!?
“Not quite, it doesn’t work like that. Only certain individuals can travel to the Spirit world. Raynor could do it because he is special~.” The Valkyrie cuddled her duelist, making the other two look at her.
“So, do you have other duel spirits?” Jaden asked, making Raynor smile.
“You will see, since I will be gathering more cards from the Spirit Realm.”
“That’s so cool! I would want to collect a deck like that!” Jaden clenched his fist; he was excited!
“Don’t worry.” Magician’s Valkyrie commented with a mysterious smile. “Your spirit is awakened, you will travel to my world at some point, and even drag your friends with you.” She commented, making Syrus gulp down nerviously while Jaden looked EVEN more excited.
‘Sadly, he doesn’t know that he will suffer with such a deep excitement he has. Spirit Realm is dangerous.’
Raynor and the group returned to their dormitory. Jaden wanted to duel as soon as possible, but it was late and there is no duels rule after sunset unless they want to fight in the old fashion way.
So, they made a promise to fight the next day. Raynor decided that he needs to improve his deck further if he wants to win against the OG MC.
