While Ray was having a blast being a Pokémon trainer and capturing legitimate Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, his Professor was having a borderline meltdown.

“What now!?” Professor Oak, who was reading data about Deoxys from the Hoenn Space Observatory, heard another notification from Ray’s profile.

As that is the only place that has any extensive info on the Alien Pokemon…

The old man was too focused; he ignored Horsea and Magmar’s capture and looked at the latest one. As he was doing that, he took a sip of coffee.

His eyes widened as he took a breath, and some coffee went to the wrong hole.

COUGH

COUGH

COUGH

“BY ARCEUS!!!”

He coughed and refreshed the page, then did a re-login, yet… he still can see Moltres! THE Moltres!

“H-H-He captured a Legendary Pokémon!” The Professor ended up sitting down as reality slowly caught up to him.

“Hahahaha!” The old man laughed several times as this was monumental!

He had felt that Ray would be an exceptional trainer since he saw him that day after summer camp. The passion and resolution in the boy’s eyes… the Professor just had to give him a chance to prove himself, 

It was a good call as Ray observed countless battles and records, spotting and discovering three new types! New evolutions…

And now… 

Ray is capturing absurdly rare Legendary Pokémon!

No one captured a Kanto Bird to his knowledge; he double-checked the database.

The old man checked who was calling him…

“Lance…again…”

The Champion is calling him again; this is the third time today.

“Yes?” He picked up the phone.

“Professor! He captured Moltres! The President of Pokémon League already asked me to ask if Ray’s Moltres could be used as backup if the flames in the tournament are lost.”

Professor Oak sighed. He doesn’t have time; he needs to do his research! Never did he consider studying legendary among people; those Pokémon are considered living incarnations of elements.

“You should ask him. He is a qualified Professor.” The old man replied in a tired tone.

“I know. I asked because he asked, I just wanted to ask if Ray called you?”

“No, he just captured Moltres. I doubt it was close to a Pokémon Centre.” Professor Oak deadpanned. The old man wanted to talk to Ray as well. But he was not consumed by excitement like a certain Champion, so he could think reasonably.

“I see. Notify me when he is free, I wish to chat with him.” With that said, Lance ended the call, making the Professor sigh for…forgot the number by this point! The day was too long.

“I never imagined that I would be researching Pokémon from space," The Kanto Professor commented under his breath. It was a bit crazy…

“Now video call?” Professor Oak grimaced as he walked to his pc and accepted.

“Professor!”

“RAY!” For a second, he forgot what he wanted to ask, as there was a pile of things he wanted to ask!

“Y-You captured Moltres! How!? And that other Pokémon!”

“Yeah, Sevii Islands are crazy. There was a meteor crash, and that meteor was Deoxys. I had to capture it quickly, as Rayquaza arrived a few minutes later. I have a video recording of that Pokémon.

After catching Deoxys, it joined me, and then we went to Mt. Ember, where we fought Moltres and I captured him.”

The Professor silently listened to the tale. It was crazy, both things on the same day?

Well, the old man has this feeling that once people are exposed to Legendary Pokémon, they will meet more later on.

It could be possible that the aura of Legendary Pokémon sticks to trainers, making them attractive to other legendaries.

“I see. Ray, my boy, what you did is monumental. You are the first trainer in recorded history to capture a Legendary Kanto Bird. 

When can you possibly send one of them for me to inspect?” He asked, almost rubbing his hands from excitement.

“I will visit you tomorrow, Deoxys knows Teleport… it makes my movement a bit more flexible.

Meanwhile, I will send you my Horsea, Magmar, Haunter and Milotic.

Horsea and Magmar need to be restored to health.”

Ray explained as he pulled out the locked Pokeballs.

“Alright, send them over.” The professor nodded as he turned on the pokeball transfer systems.

One by one, the Pokeballs arrived as he scanned them. He was quite surprised by how much Milotic had grown since the last time he checked.

Whatever Ray is doing, it is working and it is working very well!

“I got all of them. I will see you later, Ray, my boy. Your Pokémon need attention.”

“Okay, till tomorrow, Professor.”

Once the call ended, the Professor took Horsea and Magmar to the Pokémon healing machine while storing the other two.

After terrifying Nurse Joy with his newest captures, as he told her about Moltres and Deoxys, making her all but forget about the excitement of treating Dragonite.

With four Pokémon handed over, Ray kept Gyarados and Chansey as they didn’t receive any damage.

Once that was done, he went to his room and took a shower after finally changing out of that skin-tight diving suit.

A shower later, he dressed in leisure clothes and took his laptop to the canteen, where he ate some food and began to write about today in his forum!

He won’t write about Deoxys or Moltres; instead, he will write about Rayquaza and how to encounter it.

Of course, he uploaded the video as well!

After writing a couple of paragraphs about Rayquaza, what it was, and its purpose, he finally addressed the subject of meteorites and how they can appear in places where a small Meteor crashed.

After the texts had been completed, he uploaded the video and then posted it.

“And now let’s watch how fire spreads.” He commented while leaning into the chair and took a bite of his ham sandwich.

He didn’t need to wait long, as a certain someone had messaged him in DMs. Ray looked at the clock on the wall.

“It's around 9 in the morning in Unova.” He commented before checking Elesa’s message.

“What happened?? You encountered another Legendary. It wasn’t that long ago that you fought Zapdos!” She asked with a bunch of emojis, half of which were worried ones.

Ray chuckled as he was about to reply, but she quickly asked.

“And you were on a cruise ship, how did you end up on land?”

Junior Professor raised his eyebrow. The girl kept tabs on him.

“I took a two-day trip to the Sevii Islands from Vermillion City. This place is well known for having places where Legendaries reside from time to time.

Besides…”

He quickly checked his trainer’s page and saw THEM…

Deoxys and Moltres are there! He grinned as the images looked great!

So he copied the page and posted.

“I filmed Rayquaza, but caught these two.” He posted this message with a bright smile emoji.

For a second, the girl didn’t post anything, but then she posted some jibberish… 

It was not a text, but like she slammed her hand on the keyboard or something.

Before posting random letters, she clearly had a hard time with this information.

The text was there for a couple of moments before she deleted it.

“You caught Moltres!? And is that…” 

She had no idea about Deoxys, but that is to be expected; not many people know about this Pokémon.

“Mythical Pokémon from Space, also known as Deoxys. It can change forms depending on combat needs.” Ray explained with a nerd emoji at the end.

“It's a long story.”

“Call me, here is my number—” The girl sends him her number, making Ray blink a couple of times. He just got a girl's number! Damn!

Regardless, he pulled out his Pokenav and turned on the calling function.

At that moment, he realised that he could call the Professor about this. But in Pokémon Centre, it would be better as he could send over Pokeballs and adjust his team.

As he pondered this, he called Elesa.

After a couple of beeps, a female voice answered.

“R-Ray?” The girl stuttered on the other side.

“Yep. It’s good to hear your voice for the first time.” 

“Yeah…” He could tell she was a bit shy, which is something else from Unova's future greatest model.

“S-So what happened?” She asked, barely hiding her curiosity.

“So—”

He told her about the Cruise, how he captured Team Rocket, evolved his Dragonair in the tournament, won the tournament, and then arrived at Sevii Islands and started to explore…

But there was a meteorite strike that was Deoxys. He captured it, recorded Rayquaza, and then continued to explore, arriving at Mt. Ember, meeting the burly guy, fighting him, awakening sleeping Moltres, fighting Moltres with Dragonite and Deoxys, and lastly capturing the bird.

“Ohhhh! You caught Moltres!? No way!!!” Another girl's voice spoke from the speaker.

“Skyla, get off me! Don’t you see I am speaking with Ray!?” 

The Junior Professor pulled away the Pokenav from his ear. He can hear two girls arguing on the other side.

“C’mon, Eli! I want to speak with him too!”

“You can do that later! If HE wants to!” Elesa replied in a bit angrier tone.

Ray smiled, but it was a strained smile. This episode reminded him of the Sensational Sisters in Cerulean City, where they fought over him as well.

“Girls!”

“GIRLS!”

The pair stopped.

“Just turn on the loudspeaker and we can chat together.” He said with a sigh.

“One moment,” Elesa replied.

“Done.”

“Yes! Ray, I have wanted to speak with you for a LONG time!” Skyla spoke in a very excited tone, almost like she was on a sugar high.

“I see, what do you want to talk about?” He asked her.

“Flying types, and more Flying types and even more Flying types!” The girl gushed on the other side.

“Someone likes flying types.” Ray laughed. The only time he heard someone as happy as this girl was Ash, and even then, he was not as over the top as this girl for her flying types.

“That’s because I love flying! And I realised that if I have Pidgeot, I could fly faster than planes!”

“Pidgeot? I don’t think Unova has those.” The Junior Professor went into his nerd mode.

“Yes! My point! That is why I want you to capture one for me!” The girl revealed her plan.

“We could trade afterwards; I could get you one of Unova Pokémon.” After she finished explaining, her voice lost a bit of excitement. The girl sounded nervous at the end, worried that he wouldn’t accept it.

“Hmm, how about I use my Deoxys? I will bring you two to Kanto, and you can capture the ones you like.” 

“Gah!?”

He heard a couple of gasps.

“My new friend can teleport. All I need is an image of an area you girls are in, and bam, I am in your place.” 

“T-That would be great!” Elesa was the first one to reply.

“Yes! And then you could take us to Kanto!” Skyla realised the plan!

“Indeed.” 

“T-Then I need to prepare! Talk to you tomorrow, Ray!” Just like that, the girl ended the talk. Making Ray look at his Pokenav. He didn’t expect such a reaction.

“Girls.” The Junior Professor sighed as he returned to eating his sandwich and checking the forums. The response was absurd. This was the first time someone had seen Rayquaza from such a close proximity. There are photos of this Legendary Pokémon taken with a telescope.

But now he posted a video from so close. It didn’t take long for the Professors, most prominently the Hoenn Region Professor Birch, to get into the chat.

Since it’s his region, he began to excitedly rant about the Hoenn Legendary Sky High Pokemon.

“Damn, he is posting paragraph and after paragraph.” 

The Junior Professor leisurely commented as he went to get some tea.

After getting his tea, he was surprised that the Professor still kept going…

“And here I thought I was a big Rayquaza fan,” Ray commented after taking a sip.

He then went to check what else he could get on the Sevii Islands.

…

…

…

“Are you serious? Are there sightings of Tyranitar line Pokémon in Quest Island? Alogside several other Johto Pokémon.” The Psychic trainer stroked his chin after reading this information.

He already thought about getting Sneasel in the ice cave on Fourth Island, the Floe Island.

And maybe a Dewgong or Seel, as those Pokémon are decent. Of course, he can get a Shellder or Cloyster for stalling if he needs it in a team.

He is still planning to build proper teams for Tournaments.

After all, he has no idea if they will one day ban Legendary or Mythical Pokémon, as those are simply not fair…

So he can’t simply stop using tactics just because he has Deoxys or Moltres.

That said, he continued to plan how he would journey through the islands.

‘There are sightings of whirlpools in the centre island, but this Navel Rock island sometimes disappears from the map completely.

It is obvious that it is inhabited by Legendary Pokémon, even someone with half a brain knows that. But the question is… when does it appear? Because the records tell me it’s random.’

Ray stroked his chin and pondered for a while until deciding to shelve it.

Simply because he is not confident he can beat and capture Ho-oh or Lugia. Those are different beasts compared to Moltres.

‘Lugia can literally change the flow of ocean currents.’ 

The Psychic trainer grimaced at that thought. He recalled seeing Lugia doing that in a weakened state!

‘Well, I can think of something after training Deoxys and Moltres.’ In the end, he shelved the idea of seeing more Legendaries.

Instead, he focused on reporting his encounters since it's his job as a Junior Professor.

~~~~~~Next Day~~~~~~

“Ray, your Pokémon are ready.” A tired-looking Nurse Joy handed over four Pokeballs.

“My thanks, Nurse Joy.”

“Next time, when you capture a Legendary, do revive first, because our facilities are not built to take care of them.” The lady sighed, looking very tired.

“I will do that.” Ray grimaced. “I do hope Moltres didn’t burn anything?” 

She shook her head.

“Chansey is trained to calm Pokémon, so it would seem that it works on Legendary Pokémon as well. That's good to know.” 

Ray's face strained a bit. It seemed it was also a test! That's good to know!

“I see, anyway, my thanks.” Ray clipped his pokeballs to his magnetic belt. Before taking one.

He casually threw, and Deoxys appeared next to him.

“Take me to Professor’s Lab.” The Junior Professor imagined the Lab and his Psychic Mythical Pokémon teleported him right away.

“I do hope he remembers that he has booked a room.” The nurse sighed again, clearly not the first time she had dealt with eccentric people.

“My thanks, Deoxys.” Ray smiled, seeing a familiar lab! It's one of his favourite places!

“Not a problem.” With that said, the Psychic trainer and his Mythical Pokémon went to the door, and Ray knocked.

A couple of moments later, the doors opened, and a messy Professor revealed himself.

“There you are!” The old man exclaimed in an excited tone. He then noticed a floating Pokemon next to him.

“Oh, you must be Deoxys! Incredible! Come in, there is a pile of things we need to do!” The professor rushed back into his lab. Ray and his Pokémon followed after him.

First thing the Pallet Native noticed was how messy the place was.

“It would seem, Professor, you have been doing quite a bit of Research in Deoxys and Moltres…”

“Of course! You realise that only data on Deoxys is from the Hoenn Space Centre, and they are not doing it properly. They are monitoring space, after all, not Pokémon.

The same is true for Moltres. All I have is old data from hundreds of years ago, and even then, it’s myths,” Professor Oak explained.

“I see. I already have compiled some data and have recordings of my battles.” Ray pulled out his laptop.

“Good, good! Send over.” 

“Is the Wi-Fi password the same?” The Junior Professor opened his laptop.

“Indeed!”

Deoxys looked at the pair of excited people. The Alien had not sensed such strong emotions before, and the DNA Pokémon wondered how they could generate this much happiness from collecting information.

“Regardless, I still need to meet Moltres.”

“Then let’s do it!” The old man grinned like a small kid.

With that said, the pair went outside to the back of the ranch.

Some distance away, the Kanto Bird could be in a bad mood.

“I am ready, Ray, my Boy.” Professor Oak had his video camera ready, as he was filming everything.

“Right, Deoxys, get ready, just in case.”

“No need, your firebird is calm.” 

“Is it?”

“Yes, I can sense it.”

“Good, I need to pick up that at some point.” 

“Oh? You can understand Deoxys?” The Regional Professor looked intrigued at what he was seeing.

“It’s how Deoxys tracked me, professor. It was my psychic potential.”

“Oh…now this makes so much sense! No wonder, no wonder!” The old man snapped his fingers. To him, all the things have fallen into place!

“It explains your talent from a young age! All people who show potential in psychic powers are exceptional people!” The professor nodded to himself, accepting that Ray’s competence and abilities from a young age are related to his psychic potential!

“I guess I am still trying to develop them. I can sense emotions and the presence of brain waves. It’s a bit strange.”

After explaining, he pulled out his Moltres Pokeball and threw it. 

Moments later, the Flame Pokémon manifested in all of its Glory.

SCREECH!

The temperature rose in the air as the multicoloured flames around the bird were radiating intense heat.

“...Magnificent!” The Professor gawked like a small child.

Not that the bird looked at him, instead, the Kanto Legendary gazed at his trainer.

“I am Ray, a Pokémon Trainer and a Professor. Tell me, Moltres. Do you wish for me to train you?” 

The pair looked at each other's eyes. The bird was a bit surprised that this little human was not backing down; that had never happened before.

If Ray backs down, Moltres won’t respect him. If that happens, even if Ray captures the bird through battle, it doesn’t mean he will listen to Junior Professor’s commands—it’s as simple as that.

After a minute of just staring at each other, Moltres eventually nodded. The Flame Pokémon accepted that he… a Legendary was caught…

“...That was intense. I see, a fire-type trait is far more prominent in a Legendary.” The old man commented with a thin notebook in his hand, camera was tucked away.

Professor Midway realised what was happening and swiftly noted this incident in his notebook.

“Precisely, Zapdos and Moltres are quite territorial, but I have no idea about Articuno.”

“Hmm… Ice types are not known to be extremely territorial.” Professor Oak replied with one hand on his chin.

“Probably, anyway, should we start? I need to figure out Moltres' taste buds as well.” Ray smiled, making the old man smile as well.

The pair began to take measurements of the Legendary Bird. At the same time, Ray got his food set ready, adjusted spices, and checked out what the Fire/Flying type liked.

Fire types by nature like spicy, but Moltres is not a pure fire type; the secondary flying type can change that.

One thing he did notice is that his Mythical Pokémon doesn’t consume food at all…

Being a space-born lifeform, it consumes energies from the air itself… 

‘So a form of photosynthesis?’

Regardless, Ray was relieved that Moltres was behaving as it was one thing he was worried. 

Thankfully, nothing happened, and he can do his research.

Measuring the size, weight, body heat and…

“Moltres, show us your ability. Can you make a short drought?” Professor Oak suggested, as he was having a blast.

“Umm… professor? You want a drought in your ranch?” Ray asked with a sweaty forehead. Not everyone likes intense summer heat, dammit!

Not that the old man had time to reconsider as Moltres rose into the sky and the sun got intense…

“...Impressive.” The Professor needed to put on sunglasses as the temperature in the area began to rise.

“You don’t say!” Ray replied as he looked at the bird circling the area before landing.

“Indeed. I wonder about the area of radius.” The Regional Professor pondered with his hand on his chin as he looked at the Kanto Legendary.

“Most likely dependent on the Raw power. If I train him, he could increase in power and intensity.” The Psychic trainer pondered for a second before shaking his head.

“Anyway, I have things to do and meet a couple of people. For now, I leave you with Moltres. I will take Deoxys. Let’s go!” Ray checked his clock. He realised that he had spent half a day already. In Unova, it should be morning already.

“Don’t forget to see your mother.”

“...Right.” For a second, the Junior Professor stopped as he recalled his clingy mother. That woman embarrasses him so much that he tries to keep communication as minimal as possible, but now that can backfire on him!

“Ray!!!”

The doors blasted open as Ray’s mother charged in. She hugged him for a second before grabbing his ear and pulling it.

“Awww tatatata! It hurts!” 

“That's for not calling me for over a week! Not only that, I hear news about you on TV, not you! Can you explain!?” 

Ray grimaced as she finally released his ear.

“S-Sorry, I was busy.” He replied, but then she realised something.

“Wait. What are you doing here, Ray? Shouldn’t you be on the other side of Kanto?” She asked with a confused look.

“I captured a Psychic Pokémon that can Teleport.” He said with a smile.

“Oh, I see.” She then looked at Deoxys, who was simply floating next to him like a bodyguard.

“What a unique Pokémon. I've never seen this one before.” The woman looked curious.

“I would be surprised if you have seen this Pokémon before, as it's a Mythical Pokémon from Space.” 

She deadpanned at him, but then she saw that he was serious.

“Serious?”

“Very.”

“And I have a Moltres too, the bird is with Professor at the moment.” 

“...”

She stared at him for a moment before asking.

“Show me your Pokémon.”

“Sure. But we will have to skip Gyarados…” He looked around the house.

“Fufufu, Ray and his Gyarados, do you have Nidoking too?”

Ray blushed hearing that. One thing is for sure: she knows his nerding around Nidoking and Gyarados.

“Yes, he is at the Ranch.”

She laughed even more after hearing that.

Regardless, Ray unclipped his three Pokeballs and released Charizard, Dragonite and Chansey.

“Oh my gosh!” The woman swiftly went over and cuddled Chansey.

“She even has a nurse’s hat! That’s just cute!”

As the woman was gushing, Dragonite and Charizard looked at her.

They looked at their Trainer.

“My mother.”

The pair had a look of ‘oh’.

“Oh, and as expected, you will pick Charmander. But now it's a Charizard! Impressive.” She smiled again, seeing his start before looking at the Dragon in the house.

“And this is a Dragonite, isn’t it? I saw it on TV once, in the Champion Tournament.” 

“As expected from my son! You already have such a rare Pokémon!” She puffed proudly.

“Yes, anyway, can we enter?” They were talking on the terrace.

“Follow me~ I'm starting to make dinner! And should we get anything for your Pokémon?”

“Yes. I will help, c’mon Chansey.” Ray nodded as they all entered the house.

Charizard decided to chill out in the backyard, for the simple reason that the Fire/Flying type could start a house fire without even trying.

Flaming tail can do that…

After food, his mother looked at him and at Chansey.

“Ray, can you leave your Chansey with me? She is so cute~~ I need company, you know~” She complained as she pulled the Egg Pokemon into a hug. The Normal type blushed from the affection she was getting from her Trainer’s mother.

“Hmm… I could…” He then looked at Deoxys. 

‘Deoxys can learn Gravity, and I could teach healing moves.’

“I guess.” Ray looked at his new Bodyguard, the floating DNA Pokémon, which was like a sentinel.

“Deoxys, I need you to learn a couple of moves from Chansey.”

“Very well. More moves are good.”

“Great, then we can start today!” He nodded before looking at his mother.

“I will be bringing some friends from Unova; they want some Kanto Pokémon," The junior professor said without hesitation.

“Oh?” She perked up after hearing that.

“Friends? Your girlfriend?” She joked, and her joke caused him to blush a bit.

“Oh my. Fufufu, can you bring them over for some snacks?~” She winked, making him even more embarrassed.

“I guess…” 

“I will make something nice to eat?” She winked at him again.

“...Fine.”

After dinner, Ray recalled Charizard and Dragonite; he left Chansey on his mother's insistence.

He then checked his laptop and saw several pictures sent over by Elesa.

“Can you teleport me there, Deoxys?”

The DNA Pokémon looked at the pictures, focusing on the location.

“One moment.” 

“Location found.”

The pair glowed before disappearing.

“Ray!?” 

A female voice said from behind him. The Junior Professor needed to reorientate as he realised that he was a considerable distance away…

The sun was just rising from the east, unlike where it was in Kanto.

“Long-distance teleportation can cause this,” Deoxys commented as the DNA Pokémon noticed what was going on.

“Yeah… I think this is teleportation lag.” Ray chuckled as he massaged his forehead for a second.

“Is that even a thing?” The other girl's voice said as the Junior Professor turned around and saw a pair of girls waiting for him.

One was a slender black-haired girl, and the other radiated bubbly energy. She was dressed in blue and had distinctive rose-pink hair.

“I don’t know, but I think it is.” Ray smiled as the pair walked over to him. Skyla immediately got closer and pulled him into a hug.

“It’s so good to meet the famous Professor~” The girl teased in a bubbly tone, making the Psychic trainer blush as the girl was hugging and treating him like a Teddiursa.

‘I should get one. Ursaring is a great overall fighter.’ Ray tried to think of Pokémon instead of the girl who is cuddling like that!

“Skyla! Let him go!” Elesa walked over and tried to remove her.

“C’mon! He needs to know how amazing he is~” The Flying type trainer pulled back and looked at him, winking in the process.

‘What is with them and all that winking?’ Ray rolled his eyes as he pushed her back.

“Apart from these cuddles, it’s good to see you two in person.” The Junior Professor nodded at the two.

Skyla giggled with a ‘tehehe’ and Elesa smiled at him.

“Thanks for coming to see us.” The black haired girl thanked him.

“No worries, now let’s go.” He looked at his Mythical Pokémon.

The girls followed his gaze and looked at Deoxys. It was quite amusing that they could ignore the Wailord in the room.

“A-Amazing, so this is a Pokémon from outer space.” Elesa looked at it with a bit of awe.

“Y-Yeah, I can sense pressure radiating from it,” Skyla commented.

“That's because most Legendary Pokémon and some of the Mythicals have Pressure as an ability,” Ray explained before instructing his Deoxys.

“Take us back to my house.”

“Very well.”

The Pokémon’s eyes glowed, and the pair of girls grabbed Ray’s hands as they had no idea how this worked.

The very next moment, they were gone, and before they even realised it, they were in a different place altogether.

“Whoa… I am feeling a bit woobley.”

The pair of them got spacey. Ray held them as they were about to collapse.

“See, told you teleportation lag.” He chuckled.

“...Y-Yeah…”

“Hn…”

After a couple of moments, they recovered and looked around.

“So this is Kanto…” Skyla looked around as he noticed trees in the distance.

“Should we go? I want to get a Pidgey!”  The rose-pink-haired girl gushed as she was ready to get that Kanto Bird!

“Fine.” Elesa sighed before looking at Ray.

“Should we go?”

“Yeah, there are Spearows there too.” He reminded them that they have more than just Pidgeys.
