Pokemon Si c24
Added 2025-04-03 16:21:06 +0000 UTCEven if half of the onlookers left the shop, the rest of them looked at him with excited eyes.
Ray internally grimaced. No doubt they all want a piece of him, especially the girls. He can see them looking at him…
‘To think that Milotic would be such a selling point.’ The Junior Professor could only try to think about how the female brain in this world works.
Since everything is about Pokémon, Milotic is a big deal, right? He remembered that back in his world, some girls were crazy about their special breeds of dogs and cats.
So it should be similar here, right?
“Ray, can you tell us about Milotic?” one of the teen girls asked. She held her hands close to her chest, looking all cute.
The Junior Professor looked at her and then at others who were acting in a similar manner.
‘Bloody hell, can they just do their research on their own?’
“I will reveal that stuff in my newest book; there will be all the details you need.” He smiled while saying a random idea as he took the bag with the products.
Midway, he realised it's not a bad idea, as a book about Milotic would sell like hotcakes!
“Oh! You will make it in a similar fashion to your Gyarados one?” The blonde girl who had asked for his autograph before looked surprised by this revelation.
The Pallet native looked at her for a second. Now that he thought about it, he saw her somewhere.
“Yes, I was thinking of having similar for Charizard.” He nodded, as he ‘built’ on this new idea, before beginning to walk towards the exit. Or at least he tried, as there are a bunch of people in the way.
“Oh!!!”
“Can you write about—”
At that moment Ray realised that he was ‘fucked’ as recommentation time has begun, everyone have their ‘wishes’
~~~~~~Later~~~~~~
“Damn, it has been ages since I was tired like this!” With a groan, Ray collapsed into his bed, the shopping bag ended next to him, as he didn’t care; he wanted to rest.
He lay there for a couple of minutes, just chilling, thinking that someone could drain him just from talking.
“Hau!”
The Junior Professor perked up as he opened his eyes and saw Haunter.
“Did you find the criminals?” He asked his ghost Pokémon.
The floating Gas Pokémon slowly nodded.
“Good, then I want you to follow them. They constantly talk about their plans, so all you need is to hypnotise them to sleep before they bring their partners aboard.” Ray stroked his chin while thinking about plans.
“If it's a big group, you can use Confuse Ray to confuse them and then use Hypnosis.” He explained how to deal with the situation.
“They will most likely strike at night, while we are still close in Kanto.” The Pallet Native reasoned, as he recalled, that the whole accident happened in about one episode.
After explaining the details, Ray let his Ghost/Poison type go, and he soon left his cabin to explore more of the ship.
He walked over for a bit and found a place that looked like a ball area.
There was quite a bit of food, and some distance away from the tables were small fighting zones for Pokémon battles. Most of the trainers here were dressed in fancy dresses and costumes.
“Is that Ketchum? He is fighting a rich guy with a Raticate.” Ray mumbled as he saw him fight.
‘Oh, right, didn’t he fight someone with that rat and trade his Butterfree?’
He was able to recall a bit of that episode.
Regardless, he walked in because free food was calling him. As the fight was happening, he sneaked in and collected some grilled skewers and sandwiches.
“Ray! You are here too?” Misty, who had food as well, noticed him.
“I can’t say no to free food," he honestly replied as the Junior Professor observed the fighting. His trained eye could tell that the Raticate wasn’t that bad; it was captured and evolved because of its size.
“Hehe, same.” The girl laughed, but then she saw Brock trying to flirt with girls. She looked annoyed, and for a bit, she excused herself and walked to deal with him.
‘He still cringes when it comes to the females.’
Ray forgot about that. He looked at how the rich guy had recalled his rat mid-fight and called it a draw.
‘Right… battles without a referee can’t be annoying.’ The Pallet Native realised how amateur this place was. He walked away after getting his food.
The Junior Professor walked away from this place and towards where the tournament should be held.
He needed to go to another floor. Unlike other floors, this one was a bit more spacious and had an actual Pokémon battle arena.
The feel in the air was different. He could tell that it was legit. He even saw a legit Pokémon League symbol, which means that fights here are sanctioned by the league and proper rules apply.
‘Much better.’ Feeling much better because he was in familiar surroundings, the Pallet Native walked over to the reception area. He could see a sign that said registration.
He swiftly walked there and was greeted by a Pokémon League official.
“Are you here to register?” The man asked the trainer.
“Yep, when is the tournament?” Ray asked curiously, wondering if he would be on time. The next stop was the Sevii Islands, and given how slow the ship was, they would be there in just a few days.
Cruise is not supposed to be fast in the first place.
“There will be a couple of tournaments.” The official showed him a timetable.
There were tournaments spread out throughout the whole trip. Even then, this schedule was monthly…meaning that what he was looking at were tournaments planned for this month.
‘So if I am to travel properly, there would be close to 80 tournaments in a single year aboard this ship?’
Ray did some rough maths in his mind after seeing the schedule.
‘No wonder this ship is the best cruise ship in the world right now.’ There was sweat on his forehead as he realised he could live on this ship.
Maybe he will after winning all the leagues.
Regardless, he checked the first tournament, which was for the Master Ball. Well, there is another one at the end of the month, but he will not be on the ship then.
“I want to sign for the upcoming Master Ball one.” Junior Professor placed his finger on the first tournament.
“Alright, fill up the form.” The official placed a paper form on the table.
It was very basic. He needed to fill out his name, cabin number, and what Pokémon he would use for the tournament.
The first two were very easy to fill, but Pokémon for the tournament? Mentally, he counted the ones he had.
‘Oh, I guess Dragonair? He needs the battle experience and is close to evolving into Dragonite.’
So he wrote Dragonair into the last remaining box and handed over the paper sheet. The Pokémon League official read through the paper and was surprised by the last part.
“This…”
“Hmm?” Ray looked at him. Is his Pseudo-Legendary banned? He saw that there was a list of banned Pokémon because it’s a cruise ship.
“Nothing. I haven’t seen a Dragonair on this ship before, " the man said with a dumbfounded look. He was re-reading the entry to make sure he was not hallucinating.
Ray looked a bit surprised. Is he serious? Is Dratini's evolution line that rare?
Well, the Pokedex entries do indicate that they are rare, but still, if you work for the league, you see them from time to time, right?
Well, Ray’s perception is quite flawed. He used to play the games in his old life, so he knows Pokémon well. The same goes for anime. It's one of the reasons why he took anime, as he was thinking of abusing his knowledge. Not that he considered any of this to be real when he filled out the survey.
So, his perception of Pokémon is way different from that of other people. The only Pokémon that could truly make his heart race and make him nervous are the Legendaries.
He still dreams of Zapdos and him beating that bird! He dreams of crushing that yellow chicken!
“I see, but can I use my Dragonair in the battle?” Ray asked with a concerned tone. He has plan B, and that is Milotic, but after seeing a bunch of females gushing over him and wanting him to show his Milotic, he is very reluctant to do so.
“Oh? That? No problems! It’s below the maximum size, so it’s fine!” The man replied in a jovial tone. There was no way he would miss such a chance to see a Dragonair!
The only trainer that he is aware of having a Dragonair is Clair from Johto!
“Okay, when does it start?” Ray asked, as he only saw that registration is today, and the tournament is tomorrow.
“Tomorrow at 12 o'clock sharp! The finals are at 18 o'clock.”
The Junior Professor immediately realised what kind of style of tournament it is.
It’s attrition, fighting one after another, and the one with the best endurance will win.
‘I assume that other tournaments have different styles.’ He double-checked the pamphlet. He could see symbols next to the tournaments.
‘It would seem they are different.’
“I see, thanks, I will see you tomorrow.” Ray waved his hand as he walked away. As he did that, after him, a pile of people went to register as they wanted to see which tournament Ray registered for.
~~~
After signing up for the tournament, Ray explored this floor. He saw that it was purely Pokémon-related, and people were walking alongside their Pokémon.
He saw a Pokémon Centre with a nurse Joy, followed by barbers, a spa, and other Pokémon-related stuff. Ray was a bit baffled by how much they had aboard this ship.
Eventually, he found something intriguing. It was one of the things he wanted to visit aboard the ship—a Pokémon Egg store!
With a small smile, he walked in. A warm wind washed him up; it was hot inside the shop.
“Welcome to the Poke Egg Store aboard S.S. Anne. We have Pokémon eggs from all over the world.”
“Oh, nice! Can you tell me where these eggs are from?” Pallet Native asked curiously.
“Of course!” The man pointed at the shelves at the far end.” You can see on the shelves which region the eggs are from. We have some unique eggs! From places like Kalos or even the lesser regions like Alola.”
‘Lesser? Is it because they don’t have a Pokémon League?’ Ray pondered that. He did notice that Alola is like a vacation place in this world, not something serious like Sinnoh, or fancy like Kalos.
People chill there and enjoy life away from competition. But then he recalled that they do have some semi-serious challenges.
“I see, even Alola, they have some unique Pokémon.” Ray acknowledged that it was indeed unique.
“Indeed, though a warning, kid. This is serious stuff. If you buy one, make sure you take care of it, " the man said seriously to the trainer.
Ray smiled as he pulled out his Pokedex and opened it, showing him an official badge of a Professor.
“Not the first time, sir.” After showing the badge, he pocketed his Pokedex and then expanded on it. “I already hatched a Pokémon before; I would say this way is even better to raise them.” He smiled as the man finally got over his surprise.
“Well, well, Ray himself is in my store! It's quite an honour!” The man slightly bowed at the Junior Professor, making the Pallet Native cringe a bit.
“It's fine, no need for that. I am simply a trainer who likes Pokémon.” Ray motioned for him to calm down.
“Who doesn’t? It’s that you are head above others! Regardless, pick any one you like, it's on the house!”
Ray blinked a couple of times when he heard that!
“Are you sure? You do realise that I could find something rare.” The trainer asked to make sure he knows what the old man is doing.
“Yes, of course! I am happy to know that one of the eggs is in good hands.”
When Ray heard that, he slowly nodded. He wasn’t that sure. But if this man insists, he will take one.
With that in mind, the Junior Professor walked to the corner where Pokémon eggs from the furthest of regions are located.
Midway, he realised that he wasn’t that good with Alola or Kalos. He could get a passable grade on the Unova line-up, but those two?
He didn’t watch anime pass Sinnoh as Unova was garbage, if he recalls it right the producer of Unova was the same moron who produced Johto series. He passed Johto back then because he was a kid, but when Unova rolled out, he was a teen, and Ash’s behaviour was horrible, the same with the plot; it felt that where Sinnoh took a step forward, Unova took two steps back.
‘Not to mention the horrible lineup of Pokémon he had.’
So yeah, Ray’s knowledge of Kalos and Alola was not the best. He did play the games X and Y, and the same with Sun and Moon. So he has some knowledge, but he didn’t binge on these games like he did with Silver, Emerald, or Platinum.
As he was recalling his gaming experience, he was landing between two shelves.
His eyes ended up on a peculiar egg. It had a golden scale-like mark at the centre. The egg was split into two colours, separated horizontally through the middle. The scale was on the upper half, a lighter grey-ish colour, and the lower half was dark, almost black.
‘That scale…’
Ray stared at this egg for a couple of moments, trying to recall.
He then looked for hints. He checked which region this Pokémon egg was from.
On the top part of the shelf, it said: Alola.
‘Oh… ‘ His eyes widened as he recalled a Dragon/Fighting type! The Pseudo Legendary from Alola!
‘Holy!’
A trembling smirk appeared on his lips. He looked around, the shop is freaking empty and no one is buying eggs! Are they crazy!?
Here it is, a Jangmo-o egg, and no one buys it! Without wasting any time, he grabbed the container with an egg in it. Who knows maybe some moron will take it while he just stares at it…
So he needed to quickly ‘claim’ it.
The Junior Professor took it to the counter. The shop owner looked at the egg. He was a bit surprised to see it.
“Are you sure, Ray? It has been ages since I got this one from Alola. The guy who sold it to me said that it's an exceptional Pokémon.
But no one bought it, and it never hatched.” The man explained this to the trainer from Pallet Town, who was a bit concerned about what the boy had taken.
“I know. It was the same with my Dratini. The conditions of the environment have to be met for the Pokémon to grow,” Ray explained as he looked around the shop.
“If I could guess, you have no issue with fire-type Pokémon eggs, right?” The Junior Professor smiled while saying that, hitting right on the target. As the shop owner had the look of realisation, the gears were spinning in the man’s head.
“Regardless, I am taking this egg. Are you sure you don’t want to get paid for it?” the pallet native asked as he looked for confirmation.
“Yes-Yes, it’s fine, you can take it, I need a couple of calls to make.” The shop owner waved him away. Ray didn’t hesitate as he quickly left the store. The store promptly closed as the Pallet Native saw the closed sign on the doors.
It would seem that a simple hint was enough. The Pokémon egg business is a bit strange, as Ray knows that recently hatched Pokémon are given away. He saw the League symbol on the store’s window, so most likely, these Pokémon are handed to new trainers or given to the rangers.
Depending on the types or rarity.
Regardless, Ray was happy with his recent acquisition! Jangmo-o is something else! A Dragon/Fighting! That is extremely unique typing!
He is pretty sure there is no other typing in the world!
“Hehehe, talk about my crazy luck!” the junior professor chuckled as he, with an extra spring in his step, walked back to his cabin.
Now that he has a new source of curiosity, he no longer cares what else is in the ship; instead, he will look for information on Jingmo-o.
~~~~~~Later, Same Night~~~~~~
“It's time for Team Rocket to take the main stage!” a red-haired teen girl in a white Team Rocket uniform proclaimed.
“Yes, the rest of the team should be arriving soon.” A blue-haired teen guy smirked as he was ready to see some serious action and get some valuable Pokémon.
Like that, Dragonair, as the word spread quickly about a Dragon type aboard the ship!
“Umm, guys… don’t you have this feeling that someone is watching you?” Meowth spoke as he was looking around nerviously.
“Don’t speak nonsense, Meowth! Do you realise that we are at a critical moment in our operation?” The red-haired woman rolled her eyes. She was ready to prove herself valuable to Team Rocket.
“I know, but I feel strange.” The Scratch Cat Pokémon felt a cold shiver running through his body.
The trio walked towards the upper decks as they sneaked around to find a small ship with Rocket grunts approaching the cruise liner.
Before they could approach, a shadow moved, revealing itself as a Haunter.
The Pokémon gathered a ball of yellowish energy in his hands and threw it at the trio.
“Huh?” Meowth, sensing something was coming, turned around, but all he saw was light before everything started spinning for him.
“Ahhh~~ stop! Things are spinninggg…” Then… a pair of cold hands grabbed his face, and then he saw purple, cold eyes looking at him. Drowsiness soon claimed him, and he collapsed.
His teammates followed suit as they fell asleep soon after.
It only left the small ship with the grunts that were approaching them.
“Hehehe… Hau~~” The Gas Pokemon giggled as the Pokemon disappeared and soon appeared in the small ship.
What followed next were screams, confusion, and fear. Ghosts and night don’t mix with humans that much…
~~~~~~Next Day~~~~~~
Ray woke up in the cabin. For a second, he wondered what was going on before fear washed him over!
He waited for the fateful storm that would sink the ship, but nothing came!
The Junior Professor eventually fell asleep.
His gaze went to the clock on the wall. His eyes widened as he saw that it was close to twelve!
“Oh crap the tournament!” He quickly scrambled to dress up and collect his Pokeballs. He grabbed an energy bar before dashing out from the cabin and going to the floor where the arena is.
Sure enough, he saw quite a few people gathered there. Three referees were about to give instructions about the tournament.
The rules were simple: one-on-one, and no moves that could endanger the ship, like an Earthquake. Some moves, like surf, are fine to some degree, as there are systems that drain out the water.
Regardless, people should be reasonable when fighting aboard a cruise ship.
After that, a board have been revealed with the number of participants.
Ray was pleasantly surprised to see that barely around 40 people were participating.
Such a number is fantastic for him.
‘No wonder, the tournament will only last a couple of hours tops.’ Junior Professor nodded to himself, the first match alone will slice the number of people in half.
Soon enough, the first match began, and Ray watched it on the side.
It was a fight between Kanto trainers from the looks of it.
‘I do wonder if there are trainers from other regions.’ Pallet Native wonders as he watches Gloom fighting an Arbok.
The fight wasn’t as bad, but Grass/Poison fighting a Poison can quickly get boring.
Soon enough, Arbok won by squeezing Gloom. ‘Stun Spore could have turned this around.’ Ray commented to himself with crossed arms.
A bit later, it was time for the blonde girl with purple eyes to fight. She was around his age, maybe a year older, or maybe it was her aura that made her look older.
“Absol! Let’s go!”
Ray’s eyebrow perked up when he saw Disaster Pokémon appear before the blond girl. It was a beautiful specimen and a rare Pokémon.
The peanut gallery watching this began to whisper. This white fur Pokémon was rare.
Even in Hoenn, where it was originally recorded, and is supposed to have the highest population, it is rare as they rarely appear close to human settlements.
‘Now that I think about…’ Ray looked closer at the girl. ‘That earring.’ He could see a DNA-like symbol on it. ‘ A Key Stone? She can mega evolve this Absol.’ The Junior Professor realised.
Now that he thinks about it, she reminded him of that girl who appeared in a Pokémon movie and the Mega Pokémon special episodes with Alain.
‘Huh, well, Absol is one of my favourite four-legged Pokemons.’ Ray chuckled to himself as he watched this 10 or 11-year-old girl wreck an adult trainer with barely any effort.
“Astrid is the winner!” the referee announced as the blonde girl brushed her hair with her fingers and recalled her Dark-type Pokémon. She had a smug look on her face.
Ray nodded, seeing her win. The girl is clearly from a top-class Pokémon trainer family. Having an Absol at this age is most likely a family thing.
Then again, she could have a regular starter, but in these kinds of tournaments, people use their starters if they don’t have other options.
‘Or they could be like me and just use this tournament for training.’
As he was thinking about her circumstances, the girl walked over to his side.
He could see that she wanted to be praised for her victory.
‘That’s just cute.’ The Pallet Native internally chuckled before starting a conversation.
“Not bad, an Absol is not the easiest to raise,” Ray said to her.
“I raised him from an egg I got from my mom.” She said proudly. She was clearly very attached to her Pokémon.
“So, your starter?” He asked curiously.
“Indeed. I am going to Kalos to start my journey there.” The girl explained to him.
“Kalos? That’s far away.” He mentally recalled the world map and where the region is.
“Indeed, that’s where my father is, so I will be seeing him there and begin my journey,” Astrid explained before looking at him. “Is it true that you have a Dragonair?” She asked in a barely hidden, excited tone.
“Yeah.”
At that moment, the referee got their attention as the next match was announced.
“Next match, Ray Vs Conrad!”
The moment the Junior Professor’s name was mentioned, everyone looked at him and began to whisper, making Ray grimace. Will he need to use a face mask or something similar to hide his identity in the not-so-distant future?
Sounds crazy…
‘Well, not that I care much, I don’t stay in towns that much unless necessary.’
He pondered for a second before looking at Astrid. “Watch, and you will see my Pokémon, which I raised from an egg.” He pulled out his pokeball and walked to the arena.
Before him on other side of the battle arena was a trainer dressed to look like a gym junkie, clearly an iron pusher.
“Machoke, let’s go!”
The second form of Machop appeared in front of gym enthusiasts. The Superpower Pokémon flexed its muscles for a second before getting serious.
‘Knew it. Just by looking at people's clothes, I can tell what kind of types they raise.’ Ray smiled as he threw his Pokeball.
“Dragonair, you are up.”
With a flash, a blue serpentine Pokémon manifested in front of him. It was considerably long and floating a few inches above the ground.
The dragon-type coed softly announced himself, making all the observers look at him intently. Everyone who had a camera began to snap and take pictures.
Astrid looked at the Dragon type intensively. There was some fire in her eyes as she wanted to fight this rare Pokémon.
“Machoke vs. Dragonair! Begin!” The referee raised red and green flags to announce the start of the fight.
“Machoke, let’s start with Karate Chop!” Konrad ordered his fighting type to use a classic fighting move.
“It's not going to work. Slap it aside with Aqual Tail,” Ray ordered dismissively. The Dragon Pokémon moved its serpentine body, and the tail surrounded itself with water and rushed to intercept the incoming attack.
The Superpower Pokémon expected a clash, but it was anything but a clash. The tail went to the side of the incoming hand, and like a whip, it slapped it away, making himself incredibly open for an attack.
“Now…Dragon Rush.”
With Aqua Tail ending, the Dragon type switched for a STAB move. STAB is a Pokémon term when a Pokémon uses a move of the same type as the Pokémon's type.
When Machoke used Karate Chop, it was a STAB move, and now Dragonair using Dragon Rush is STAB as well. The only difference is that this move is far stronger.
“H-Hold it! M-Machoke dodge!”
In a panicky voice, the trainer tried to order his Pokémon, but his Fighting-type looked lost, dodging? How? Instruct, damn it!
Yet, no instruction came as Dragonair, like a meteor, slammed into the Superpower Pokémon's horn first, making it tumble backwards like a ragdoll, spinning and spinning to its trainer’s side.
There were swirls in the Pokémon’s eyes as it was out cold.
“Machoke is knocked out! Dragonair is the winner!” The referee raised a red flag as Ray’s colour was red in this fight.
“Nicely done, Dragonair.” The Junior Professor praised his Pokémon, the Dragon Pokémon, who cooed happily before Ray recalled him.
The Pallet Native walked over to his old spot. The blonde girl looked at him; she already wanted to battle him, but then she looked to the side.
“It seems we will be meeting in a fight way later than I initially thought.” She commented while looking at the tournament table.
Ray followed her gaze. It would seem she was on the far left while he was on the far right.
The only way they could fight is in the finals.
“In that case, don’t lose midway.” He smiled at her before walking away.
“The same could be said about you. Don’t lose before I beat you.” The girl was proud enough not to back down.
“Sure~.” He waved at her while walking away. There were seats with a small restaurant at the side, and since they have such amazing waiting areas, he might as well use them.
~~~
“Whoa! Look, they have a proper fighting arena!” Ash exclaimed, looking excited; he was already itching to fight.
“Look, a tournament of some sort is happening there.” Brock pointed at the big screen on the side; it had tournament-style brackets.
“We should join!” Ash was ready to dash to join, but Misty grabbed him by the collar. Before telling the obvious…
“Dofus, the registration is over, look, they are already fighting.” The water type trainer commented with a sigh as she yanked him back.
“She is right.” Brock nodded, but then he noticed something. “Oh, look! Ray is fighting next!” The Pokémon Breeder looked at the next upcoming fight.
“It is! Let’s go watch!” Misty let go of Ash and then dashed to find a place to watch. Not that it was easy, as there were a bunch of people watching the tournament.
As she arrived with her gang, they saw Ray releasing his Pokémon.
“N-No Way!”
“Damn…”
Brock and Misty were gawking at his Pokémon, but Ash looked confused, as he didn’t know what Pokémon it was.
