Entrance after entrance I walked by again and again. I had to move quickly, light was scarce, the atmosphere reeked of humidity and decades old decay. Everything looked just exactly the same. I began getting worried she may notice I was gone. Something inside was telling me I was getting close to my objective, and that I needed to move faster.

I stretched my steps as much as I could. Sweat began dropping from my forehead and jawline. My heart pounding loudly inside my chest and all I could see was a comical bouquet of cave entrances that went nowhere, but rather mocked me by repeating themselves endlessly in front of my overwhelmed eyes. It all began feeling like a terribly bad trip. I started forgetting where I was going or what I was chasing.

I tried to run faster. The nausea became so bad it paralyzed me. I stood on the ground with my free hand over my chest. Even the silence of the halls seemed to be oddly loud when the voice's yelling stopped intermittently. Something was happening to me. Something was very wrong.

My breathing became more agitated. I felt my head swollen and hot. I couldn't bear it any longer. I let go of the torch as my body dropped to the floor. I didn't close my eyes, but my eyesight became completely black.

I lost not only my sight, but also my hearing. I stopped smelling the humidity, I stopped feeling my limbs, even the warmth of my torch. I became a deprived puppet laying on the floor. The loneliness of my conscience was the only thing that remained in an infinite sea of darkness. My body was dead.

But still, I remained...
