[IMPORTANT] - A change in plans

the station has been an overwhelming success, and, as you likely already know, that's come with pros and cons. On the one hand, it's been a thrill to see people react so positively to the project, and myself, Dot, Sam (waitin), Jello, and the rest of the sexFM contributors are extremely thankful for all the support.

On the other, we were completely unprepared for the traffic we received, and have been in panic mode ever since the beta launch. We've been constantly reevaluating every facet of the project, exploring every financial option available to us, and after a week of scrambling to catch up to demand and offset operating costs, we've decided to take down the station in the coming days.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT SEXFM IS OVER! 

...at least, not yet. Our plan is to take this time to cool off, sort out the finances, and plan ahead for a full-scale launch on my youtube channel. This will take at least a couple months- likely longer. We're overhauling the systems we use to stream the station, upgrading the website, designing merch, bolstering the tracklist, adding new genre blocks, and more... all in our spare time. Thanks for understanding.

The good news about the relaunch is that the station will be far better than it is now! The bad news, depending on how you look at it, is that once we relaunch, SexFM will only be back for a limited time- we're thinking a month or two (still figuring things out). This was a tough call to make, but I'm confident it's the right one. Transitioning from a live-service to a timed event helps me and the team in several important ways;

• It limits the amount of time the team needs to take away from other projects that actually pay their bills

• It helps everyone to plan around the station's duration, and enables us to make its limited run more eventful and special

• It justifies one big merch launch as a way to offset operating costs, as opposed to having to spend a ton of time every month hunting for ways to break even

• It enables us to turn the death of the station into in event, guaranteeing a sense of closure to all those involved by letting us flip the switch on our terms

• It enables me to make a quick and easy post-mortem video, further offsetting production costs and sharing the station with more people who couldn't catch it live

So what does that mean for the patreon? 

We've put ourselves on the awkward position of selling y'all on the narrative that the patreon is part of how we plan to keep the station afloat... and then deciding to kill it anyway. Oops.

First off- Please don't think that you've donated for nothing; your money is one of the only reasons we haven't had to pull the plug sooner! With that said, now that we're moving away from ongoing-communal-project and into event-you're-a-part-of, we've decided to memorialize everyone who donated on a new dedicated page of the website, coming very soon. If you've given us any money at any point, your screen name will be on that page.

We've paused billing, effective immediately, and we'll be shutting the patreon down early next month, since we're basically betting on the success of the merch launch to make this thing make sense. (By the way, make sure your email is updated on your patreon account so that we can reach out to you with a discount code for merch once that goes live!)

I hope this all makes sense, and I'm sorry for the narrative around the station's finances constantly changing- it's been chaos behind the scenes, lol.
