If I'm quiet this week, it's because I've been on fire working on this final installment of the "Snatcherjacker & Me" series! I storyboarded, did my initial paper sketch, and today I'm completing the most boring step in the entire process - layout. See I generally "draw" the comic on the page as I see it, then after I get that sketch in the computer I start by making the panels as a new layer, so I have the best sense of how the final page will "look". Once that's done I can scale the art around, make more room for dialogue, rearrange if I decide a different layout than originally planned looks better, etc. Basically, planning for all the bits of visual storytelling that isn't *just* a cute butt.
It's a bit of a back and forth. I do a rough sketch of the art, use that to make the panels, then use the panels to tweak the art. FUN.
Good news tho, once this is done I'll be able to start inking which is where the REAL magic happens! (And I promise other art will come out in the meantime, too. I don't like to let y'all go too long without something fun... 😉)
