Heh, it’s actually purely practical- I make a layer of a hot color to block where the negative space around the characters is, so I can easily visualize or select if I’m working on the “foreground” or “background”. Somehow over the years I’ve found this pink is pretty easy to look at, so it’s my default, but I also do some pastel greens and oranges for multiple panels.
