NES Works Gaiden #71: Bug Hunt / David's Midnight Magic / Lode Runner

The XEGS saga continues! Slowly! I won't be dwelling on this system for too many consecutive episodes in a row... I'm really trying to avoid unnecessary psychic damage these days. But here's a li'l toe-dip in the pond: Another piece on the XEGS library and its history.

I loved Midnight Magic on my Atari 800XL. Triggering multiball was insanely hard. I remember trying to trigger that and get the 6X multiplier and I only ever managed to get both at the same time once.

No worries, next week I have to start dealing with the Intellivision controller, so the pain will continue unabated

Please 🙏 keep delivering the psychic damage! These side stories are the best :)

I'm sure all of these games exist and everything, but everything about the XEGS just makes me think it was a weird practical joke that cost millions upon millions of dollars to foist onto an audience that didn't care and/or laugh. (Mommy, I want Lode Runner. We have so, so, so much Lode Runner at home.) Granted, this wasn't the first nor the last example of a company just doing something deeply stupid that was destined for failure.
