NES Works 144: Air Fortress & Sesame Street ABC

Coming in a little hot this week—I'm not sure the 4K version of this episode has fully processed yet. That's because my copy of Air Fortress has mysteriously gone missing, and I spent the evening and morning trying to find it for photographic inclusion here. No luck! But I'm taking a vacation day from work today to finally get my home office in order (nine months after moving to this place) so I'm sure it will turn up shortly after I set this live.

Anyway, Air Fortress is good and I wish I had played it back in the day. The end.

Yes, there's a second game here, but: The end.

Around 3:12 you say "it all explodes him in a single touch" twice

I will say my toddler really likes Sesame Street ABC, so I guess they did something right?

The Sesame Street Counting Cafe game on Genesis is actually pretty great from a parent perspective. A great controller tutorial, like the Barney game. Both feature some voice samples that help with the immersion for the kiddo.

"I wish I had played it back in the day" -- Discovering something from the past that you knew you would've loved at time seems to be a recurring funny and sad quirk of retro gaming.

The Sesame Street games were the first games I ever played. Being able to play with your favorite characters in a game with practically no fail state was unbelievable fun for 3 year old me. It is a light and a repetitive game, but kids at that age love it for that. I had my 3 yr old daughter play it and she loves it too despite it lacking Elmo and Abby.

I think there might be an editing error around 3:05. It sounds like you kept two different takes of the same line.

Agreed, the new mic setup is a nice improvement!

At the time, I really loved Air Fortress. That was a title I got from my mom, marked way down at KB Toys. Despite being basic, it felt good to play. I think it is why I really really loved Environmental Station Alpha years later, it reminded me of this title.

Hey what kind of mic are you using in your openings? You sound really good
