Man, the combination of Japanese proxy bidding services and a favorable dollar/yen exchange rate is one of the few truly positive things we have going in the benighted modern world. It means I can browse around an auction site and spot something unusual and say to myself, "This is only going to cost me like $15 total, I can afford to take a chance on it and see what it is." And then it ends up being a totally wonderful VHS tape that combines a beautifully corny live-action pantomime interpretation of Dragon Quest II with live symphonic renditions of its music. Amazing! I mean, I could certainly stand to have to look at less of war-crime-denier/LGBT-decrier Koichi Sugiyama's face here. But other than that, this tape is a real gem. You may already have seen it floating around the web, but I do feel that the transfer and upscaling quality make this the nicest-looking version to be found online, at least at present. And even if not, well, it's still pretty fun regardless.
