NES Works #86: Legendary Wings feat. Xevious & Galaga

Every couple of years, this video channel undergoes a curious transformation: Suddenly all the games I cover shift a sort of spiritual polarity and begin showing telltale signs of influence from a different formative game. In the early days, it was Heiankyo Alien. A couple of years ago, it shifted to The Tower of Druaga. And now, every other danged game I talk about wishes it were Xevious. Well, this episode brings this trend to maximum output as I look at both Legendary Wings, a game heavily influenced by Xevious, and the NES release of Xevious itself. NES Works #086: The only episode that eats its own tail!

Also, Galaga.

Comments

If Xevious is the root ancestor of Capcom, Legendary Wings is the weird missing link between several branches in it's evolution.

It's becoming clear that Xevious is the Heiankyō Alien of mid-generation NES titles.
