NES Works #066: Kid Niki and Gotcha! The Sport
Added 2020-03-04 14:59:59 +0000 UTCThis episode did not go the way I expected. I figured Kid Niki would be the main course, with Gotcha! as the brief side dish. But the more I read up on Gotcha! and dug into its history, the more interesting it was. Not the game, mind you... just the history and culture around it. By no means is it a great game, but sometimes it's the strange middling games that have the meatiest origin stories.

2020-03-05 01:59:25 +0000 UTCI'm of the age that I should have been in the prime target audience for Gotcha! toys (I was about 7 years old at the time), but I have no recollection of ever seeing them. I do remember the NES game, though. I played it once or twice at a friend's house, didn't like it, and forgot about it until now.
