NES Works #035: Gradius

This is it! The end of NES Works 1986. And what a way to wrap the year.

It'll be a while before I delve into NES again — my top priority now is to wrap up the first year of Super NES retrospectives I started (gotta milk that Super NES Mini hype), then make some progress on Game Boy... and then there's a secret, self-contained project to tackle that should be interesting, hopefully.

Thank you for supporting this series through the second year of the NES's life. It's a been a little meager at times, I realize. NES Works 1987 should be a lot more interesting! Look forward to it in about a year (unless we can miraculously drum up support for this campaign to hit the two-weekly-videos goal, in which case it'll happen a lot sooner).

Another great video! One of my top 5 NES games.

Yep, I went over this a bit in the DK Jr. episode. There's a fair amount of uncertainty and inconsistency in U.S. release dates, but that's what I'm sticking with — largely working from Nintendo's official dates.

Watching your chronological take on the NES gaming library in North America reminds me of something said during the Retronauts podcast on Chrongaming (my eternal gratitude for pointing me in the direction of Dr. Sparkle's sublime show btw). In it, he states that he goes by a game's Japanese release (whether or not it saw a western release of any sort) because in Japan the game's release dates were more detailed (He mentioned that over here it's usually by month as opposed to by specific date). Anyhow my question is has the more nebulous release schedule for the NES over here posed any sort of complications for your show's line-up, or do you foresee it doing so as the series continues?
