This was one of my favorite games as a kid. I could generally get through the first two missions with zero deaths, then like you I hit a wall late in Mission 3. Only with the 3DS save states was I finally able to finish the darn thing. The platforming in the caves and Machine Gun Willy's palace is brutal!
