More R.O.B. source footage

So there's nearly $1000 worth of setup involved in making this dumb video, not including the video camera, capture gear, modded NES, computer, etc. Ridiculous. I cheaped out a bit and sourced Japanese peripherals (you can see that the platforms surrounding R.O.B. are a pale cream color rather than grey — that's because they're meant to go with the Famicom Robot rather than NES R.O.B.). Even so, this was pretty much the white whale of Good Nintentions: Proper reference footage of a game no one likes, that is completely terrible, that is needlessly complex yet seemingly unfinished, and costs a ridiculous amount of money. It doesn't exist online, because why would it?

But, now it does exist: High-definition footage of the other R.O.B. game, Stack-Up, synced to corresponding R.O.B. movements. I actually have another 20-30 minutes of footage of this game to post, but this will do for now.

Anyway, the great news is that once I get the Stack-Up episode together for next week, I'll never have to play it, or set up R.O.B., again.

Money well spent, Jeremy. I've never seen a R.O.B. in action before, and seeing how this actually works is really super cool. I know the vast majority of people do not care about this, but seeing all these bits and pieces of video game history and ephemera starting to be seriously catalogued is extraordinarily satisfying, at least to me. The game itself, on the other hand, looks just godawful.

Maybe, but ONLY for Gyromite.

You say that but one day the itch to set him up will return. As will R.O.B.!
