A heartwarming tale of tragedy

Wow, check out this hour-plus of Metroid Zero Mission footage I captured for use in a new Anatomy series! Rad, right? Well, almost. I captured this from a RetroN 5 since ZM is not yet available on the U.S. Virtual Console (despite being in every other region!?), and when I went to load up my save file for a second session the system hadn't saved it. So, I've learned my lesson — the RetroN 5 is hot garbage — and I'll be hunting down a GameCube and component cables so I can do proper GBA capture in the future. Have you seen the prices on GameCube component cables, though? Blurgh.

Anyway, you can enjoy this footage that I won't be using, whee.

Well... at least it didn't catch fire. A friend of mine went to play his last week, and it lit up when he plugged it in. (Strangely enough, he also lives in Raleigh, but I'm sure it's just a coincidence.)

If you need a GameCube component cable, I'd be happy to donate mine (Nintendo original), as I no longer own the console. Only problem is: 1) I won't be able to ship it before August 31st (I'm on holiday right now); 2) I live in Italy, so shipping could take a while. Should you be interested, please let me know. Cheers

That's really a bummer about the Retron5. I've played many GBA games on it and had no trouble. If you're still interested in using it you should make sure you have the latest update applied to it. Early versions had a lot of trouble with saves. http://retron5.in/node/6

If you need a GBA player, I've got one laying around my office with the start up disc that I don't need. If you want it, let me know! I also know a few spots around Raleigh where you could find a cheap GameCube and, if you're lucky, component cables.

Hey, Jeremy - just out of curiosity, you have any idea when you might resume your anatomy of FF6? I was rather enjoying that. :-)

I played both Zero Mission and Minnish Cap on the GameCube, using the Game Boy Player. It really felt like I had found long-lost SNES games.
