Time for a poll...

So, I thought I was doing something good yesterday when I announced content would be posted here for backers exclusively, but maybe that's not the case. The logistics of Patreon's site don't really work with everyone's habits, it seems. Let me put the question to everyone: Do you want me to post content here exclusively, or should I just stick to the usual way of doing things? I want to do what's best for everyone here, so I'd appreciate your feedback.

I wait for the content to go public as well. I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but Patreon won't let me stay logged in. So it's a couple extra steps to get to the posts (especially annoying on my phone). Same goes for Retronauts. I'd have no problem listening to them early, but I listen at 2X speed, so listening on Patreon isn't an option.

A total +1 on this comment

Niels Kobschätzki

Same for me.

Ben Schnagl

Thanks for reaching out! I'd say to keep it as it is.

Alex Medina

If Scott had not written this I would have.

Philipp

Oh, yeah, Metroid vol. 1 has some technical issues. But I'll try and come up with something.

I agree with everyone above - I support you because I support YOU. And I like hearing when new stuff is published. I also like almost immediately sharing that with my friends - because it's available publicly. The best way of thanking us is to keep writing good stuff and enjoying what you do. And sending us occasional bonuses is OK too. Maybe the Anatomy of Metroid Volume 1 (missing from the earlier zip)? Just sayin'.

The most important thing for me isn't getting things early, it's just getting notified by email when you do new cool stuff. Patreon is great for this, because otherwise I forget to check in on things for ages. I did really dig the Game Boy World scans though. Those were awesome and I hope you keep releasing them.

Raygan Kelly

No preference, happy with you doing whatever you think best.

Olivia

I'll ditto pretty much everyone else. The occasional exclusives you post (box art scans, your older 'zines, etc.) are awesome and would love for you to continue to do that occasionally as the opportunity arises, but for ongoing content I'm always happy to read/watch it as it's released. No big deal either way, though - having it posted here early for people that enjoy that won't affect my own enjoyment.

Jared Breland

I think this is the first time I've logged in to see something exclusive to backers, for both this and Retronauts. I like seeing the email that says what content is upcoming, but I always just wait for it to be released on the public channels for consumption.

Joe Dix

I just want lots more Game Boy World in general and my Retronauts DVD by the end of the year, if I'm being completely honest. You da man Jeremy.

I appreciate your doing whatever is best for you. If it helps to get more people to commit to supporting you, then 100% choose that option. For the "Anatomy" posts, I prefer the traditional website layout over the PDF option. Reading a PDF on my phone in the layout of the older web format wasn't super attractive. If that is your worry, maybe a format change would address it? Seriously, whatever is better for you. I can adjust to a new way of accessing this great content.

Austin Cummings

I prefer consuming your content the usual way, through your websites and YouTube. It's much more convenient. I appreciate it that you want to appreciate us (ha!), but we support you because we like your work, and we want to see more of it. We don't simultaneously need to deny others your work. On the contrary, I like when your work is public, so that I can point others to it when it's relevant to a discussion (online or off). By the way, this applies to Retronauts, too. Maybe I should also comment on the Retronauts page, too.

Scott Schneider

I really appreciate the sentiment behind giving us exclusive access for a while, but if it's easier for other backers to go back to the old way, then that might be better, since the important thing is the content being made in the first place.

Kevin Galloway

I primarily consume the content via RSS, so as a patron I find I get things late. That said, I mostly want the content to get made, so whatever you think makes the most "business sense" is fine with me.

Austin Schaefer

Agree with above. Share and share alike. The more people see it, the more people will donate and help Jeremy continue his work.

Chris McCarthy

Hear, hear.

Brad Gravett

Honestly, I could not care less about getting episodes early. I care about helping them get made.
