Added 2024-09-22 17:22:46 +0000 UTCAs part of the art studio renovations this year, I've decided to upholster the "sound-reinforcement-system." It looks a lot better than just..nailing trash to the wall and putting a curtain in front of it, which was the previous move. This stuff was packaging for a big grow-light upgrade at the weed farm a couple of years ago. I grabbed a stack of it and it has been very handy for rooms-with-drums ever since.
So over this weekend, I finished putting up the sound reinforcement along the drywall, cleared out the closet, put up string lights and curtains, set up the PA, and prepared the drum rug for an incoming kit from a new collaborator (and slapped 2 rows onto this meandering mandala blanket). My idea with the closet here is, by request, creating a space where folks can stream concerts. Heck, maybe I'll get into streaming some solo stuff this winter. Maybe I'll juggle in there. Idk the future is ripe. I've ordered 4 guitar swings and a keyboard stand to arrive this week.
I am looking forward to having this sanctuary of creation over the coming months. With the violence spreading and getting hotter and more audacious by the day over in Lebanon, I just have so much very important art to be making and sharing right now. Good things take time, but holy fuck it's go time. Digital collage has been an important outlet while the physical making-space is in flux. Can't wait to show y'all the MEGAZINE. Fingers crossed for a late November publish date. I'm looking into getting it printed too, and that involves some research regarding offset printing and signature layout. Chaos is comforting, and proper orderly disordered pagination very much lights me up. I'll share the pdf in print-order when it's ready to go and you'll see what I mean.
Also, if you want any art, poetry, writing, etc published in this thing, get in touch! I've got 3 contributors beyond myself at this point. Obvious pseudonyms are encouraged.
