Germans are hardly immune to corporate interest infiltration, like with the Wirecard scam. The issue in Germany is that it is an occupied state, and local corporate interests are secondary to American/NATO directives, hence the forced de-industrialization with avenue of escape.

Finding the monopoly discussion hard to comprehend. Always assumed monopolies were bad: the ‘mob’, Rockefeller & standard oil. I remember the break up of ‘ma bell’ - too big, stifling competition. A big fan of Ted Roosevelt, the great trust buster & defender of regular folks. So depressing to find government protects monopolies. * I tend to think the Germans do not allow monopolies without strong government supervision & intervention.
