Shay thought about herself for a moment. Growing up rich had afforded her many opportunities and experiences. But, she’d come through it all thinking most of it was vapid and unsatisfying. Her closest connection was her mother and father who accepted her rogue lifestyle as a phase she was going through.

Shay had forsaken the shallow friends of her past and set out alone. She took pleasure in meeting people and getting to know them, but she wasn’t ready to settle down and become enmeshed in the lives of others.

Though she was, for the most part, alone in the world she didn’t feel lonely. She filled her social nooks and crannies with moments and memories that changed with her drifting from location to location.

She’d met some really nice people working with the festival. But none that she thought would sway her into making Miami a permanent home.

The next day would be like the one she was just finishing. She’d have fun and help others have fun. She’d laugh and make others laugh. She was fine with that—she looked forward to it.
