From The West To The Midwest (Diary)

Well, I have to say my time in the LA area was great. Some good things happened, but now, I will be moving onward!

Kenosha, Wisconsin, here I… we, that is… come!

This beautiful woman walking with me is Izzy Duffy. I’ll tell you about her in a moment…

You might have figured out that I'm always up to several things all at once. This trip is definitely going to involve several things all at once!

First off, you may ask, “Why Kenosha, Wisconsin, of all places?”

First, let me say this (thinking about Wisconsin): There is a huge difference between “diary” and “dairy.” Just saying… So, if I get it wrong… and I will!

A lot of you will recall my idea for that warehouse that I pitched a few days ago.

Well, word of my interest in helping those who are disadvantaged got out, partly because James King  told people about it, so maybe our desert adventure wasn’t fully wasted.

I was contacted by the Kenosha office of Humanitarian Housing, an agency that helps economically disadvantaged people by renovating their homes or helping them find a home to renovate. James will be introducing me to their board today. I’ll just have time to land and change clothes.

Baseball? Yes, that too!

That little city south of Kenosha has two teams. This time, I’ll have some company. For sure, Izzy Duffy will be modeling with me sometimes. Who knows who else will show up, though?

Izzy is a professional, full-time sports, fitness, and swimsuit model. So… yeah…

There’s a few other things cooking, too! You’ll have to stick around and see what all happens.

As for me, right now I have a flight to catch!

Meeting The Board

I made it on time with a few minutes to spare. James met me in the lobby and escorted me to the meeting room. The board and some others were already there.

"This is Ailana Geven," James said. "Now you all know that I've been a big supporter of Humanitarian Housing for a while now. Over and over, the board has said one big need beyond money is to create awareness. I believe Ailana can help with that through her digital content."

He went on to pitch the idea that I would do some actual work on some of the remodeling/repair projects and take pictures that I could share through my digital presence. Coupled with some comments about the housing challenges faced by many economically disadvantage people, everyone agreed that it was a good idea.

James then introduced me to Sasha Baek, a free-lance project manager he had hired to work with me for a while. "I want Sasha to try and leverage something from the baseball teams that raises awareness. Since Ailana is going to be working with them already, I am hoping we can double-dip."

Sasha and the others in the room seemed more than happy with the idea. There were a few questions and a few suggestions, but the idea was fully embraced, and Sasha and I were welcomed to the project.

Overall it was a great meeting. After it was over, James treated Sasha and me to a great lunch, then said he had to get back to Miami where he had a lot going on. He took us back to the hotel and told us to stay in touch.

Sasha assured him we would.

At that point, my early morning and busy afternoon hit me hard. I told Sasha I was going to relax some and that I'd probably end up at the pool. I asked her to join me, but she said she'd take a raincheck; she had some calls she wanted to make.

With that, we parted to our rooms and I set my sights on some time poolside!

Stick around for that!

Once More Poolside

What can I say? I'm not letting a little overcast sky deter me from relaxing by the pool.

That chair has my name on it! If you need me, you know where to find me!

The pool might be small, but it's wet and the patio is cozy. More than enough to share, if you ask me!

While I sit here, I'll probably do some creative writing and add a chapter to Olivia's story in the Health For Humanity. If you've been reading that, you know she loves what she does, but the strain wears on her.

End of A Good Day!

Well my time this afternoon was satisfying. I am pretty sure I dozed off in that chair. There may even have been some sleep-noises, but I'm not going to say I snored!

I did write that chapter for Olivia's story. I think it's good, and would love to know your thoughts, too!

I met Izzy and Sasha for dinner in the hotel restaurant. It, too, was satisfying, though not much to show.

I stopped to take this picture before completely undressing for bed. I wanted to say goodnight on Instagram, too!

I'm so excited that you are joining me on my adventures. I really believe this diary (not dairy!) approach is a good way to share what I'm doing.

I still have a few sets of images from the past to work through. I'll eventually get around to sharing them. I'll be sure to explain that they are in the past, so readers won't be confused.

Tomorrow promises to be an exciting day. Hope to see you then!
