September Update #2! ...and Under the Weather :/
Added 2019-09-27 15:01:21 +0000 UTCHello friends and followers! If you didn't happen to catch my post over on my profile on Reddit yesterday, I've had a pretty intense stomach bug the past few days. So rather than try to push myself to put out something less than my best for the end of this week, I've decided to rest up and get back to the high quality content beginning of next week as usual. I hope you all can forgive the delay.
With that out of the way, let's recap what's been created the past 2 weeks!
Celestial Beasts ("Demigod-level Celestials from the Beastlands")
- Remnin (Eagle) and Jentigu (Tiger) (September 17th)
- Hal-yun (Wolf) and Leqiri (Deer/Elk) (September 20th)
- Kojaku (Gorilla) and Celestial Monkey (Chain Warlock Familiar!) (September 24th)
I've had this idea brewing for a while to create a nature-y Warlock with a Beastlands patron. But there aren't really any "animals" or examples of Beastlands monsters in 5e that would be remotely worthy of being a patron. So I've taken it upon myself to make some. Sort of a tangent off of the Archons series earlier this month, this has of course also helped address the "dismal number of Celestial monsters in 5e" problem.
Each of these is pretty unique with great flavor. The Remnin, rumored to be avatars of the god of eagles himself, have godly eyesight and serve as sentinels of the Upper Planes. The Jentigu is impeccably stealthy, nearly always maintaining its invisibility, as it prowls around uncovering devious plots. The Hal-yun is a psionic demigod wolf. Need I say more? The Leqiri has its incredibly fun "horn smites" and regrowth ability via its tree-like antlers, as it taps into the energy of the nature around it. And the Kojaku is able to psychically command any primate in its vicinity, wail on stuff like any good gorilla should, and form something of a mobile fortress around the forests and jungles of the Beastlands. And of course, the Celestial Monkey will make a nice Chainlock familiar option to go with the subclass—able to dart in and out of melee, distracting and hindering your foes.
There will very likely be more of these in the future, but I think this is a solid start for now and I will move onto the actual subclass itself. Working Warlock patron subclass name: The Divine Beast.
Once again, High-Res and Printer-Friendly PDFs of these can be found in the ever-growing Heroes of the Gauntlet Compendium, which is a perk for all patrons! Head over and join the Discord if you haven't already, and thank you again for your patience as I get over this bug. As always...
See you in the Arena!
