Chapter 3: Spring Flower

She slowly opens the door, just a smidge and responds; “Hey dad...oh...?” – “Your favorite.” he smiled looking at her for a moment; “Do you have a fever?” He pushed his way in gently, as Jade at first thought to struggle, but instead let him in. She felt her arms reach across her sink, then up to the cabinets, she started re-organizing each shelf, seeing so much more room now that she could reach all the way to the top of the cabinet. Rudely interrupted in her moment of prescience, she hears Kiryu calling out her name from downstairs.

“Hey Jade! Ashley is here, come downstairs!” Kiryu wiped the sweat from his brow and offered her a drink. “Your girl is so smart, it’s amazing what you two can accomplish, in such a short time, under such conditions.” -- “T-thank you, I really appreciate the sentiment. She’s a lovely girl...i mean woman.” -- “So what’s the news?” -- Kiryu lowered his head, and started to scratch the back of his neck feeling guilty. “Well...it’s hard to say this...Jade has grown.” -- “The formula worked?!” -- “Yes we managed to cataly-” Trying to finish his sentences, constantly being interrupted by Ashley, who’s eyes were glistening at the thought of growing taller.  -- “Oh my god!
