2025-03-10 21:34:59 +0000 UTCWith 76 comments in four hours, I’d say you hit an “engagement nerve” with this community, Glow. 😎 I am going for a a deep cut to obscure songs from the late 80’s so maybe the character had a cool parent who taught them some of the classics … 😏… but I’m gonna throw in U2’s Until The End Of The World. If the character is using a playlist, it sounds to me like they are trying to be a little subtle and not get right in your face with it. If I’m reading that vibe right, a song that waits until literally the last line of the lyrics at 3:25 to slide in the whole point of the song might be perfect. “Waves of regret and waves of joy I reached out for the one I tried to destroy You You said you’d wait until the end of the world” Turns out the listener loved the singer so much, even with all the rough stuff that had happened between them, including hearts getting broken, the listener was ready to wait their whole life for the singer to also realize they should be together. It’s a non traditional love song, but I think it works really well if the character is creating a playlist that’s trying to avoid being a solid wall of songs coming right out and saying the three words directly. 2025-03-10 17:07:05 +0000 UTCthey are by no means "traditional" love songs, uptempo and you have to really listen to them, but Hozier just has a way with lyrics: 'Jackie and Wilson', 'Nobody', and last but not least 'First Time' I would recommend reading the lyrics for the full effect. there's also 'Shrike' which is slower and sombre, it might be too visceral for what you're after though
