A brief Atla study.

Here is the study/Atla profile. Be sure to read the fluff underneath and better res pics are attached so be sure to download those. >w< And thanks to Ferric for looking over the fluff text for me.

I tried to make the profile look like they where notes taken by the Zoologist in the fluff/lore underneath. Let me know if I should to a more in depth profile of Atla though to be honest I should probably do one for Catturns, but that's for another post. Anyway, enjoy, hope you all like it. : 3

Often sighted or even encountered around freshwater lakes, rivers, and even some coastal harbors, this aquatic creature was at first thought to be an entirely new species. After an investigation by an experienced zoologist, Constance Valenciennes, it has been speculated that the multiple strange sightings reported were actually the same creature, spotted as it roamed and explored the waterways. This was confirmed with the zoologist's in-depth research, leaving her investigating each new sighting reported and finding similar encounters and interactions between all of them.

From those interactions she was able to deduce that the creature was at first avoiding her attempts at contact. The creature soon got used to being followed and even expected her to be watching him in some places. The creature was intelligent enough to learn a few words in the process, using them in a few attempts to communicate in broken sentences. He referred to himself as Atla when communication was finally established. In her observations she noted that he appeared to interact with other creatures and even humans sometimes in his daily life. Some people seemed not too bothered by him, leading her to believe that he often visited their village. He would often employ some kind of barter system where he would leave something in exchange for something he would steal from the villagers, something that he would not be able to find or make in the wilderness. These items would range from a poor trade such as a fish for a knife, but adversely range to good ones such as a silver bracelet he had found in exchange for some baked bread cooling in a window.

Only ever approach the creature when it is on dry land and out of its preferred habitat to lower the potential danger of interaction. The creature itself didn't seem to pose much risk in general, and never appeared to be very threatening, but on occasion it did try and get the Zoologist to swim along with him. She politely declined each time, and even abandoned further observations for the day in case the creature got angry at her rejection. Constance Valenciennes also noticed the creature following her when she had let her guard down or was distracted. This might have simply been the creature copying her with some of its own observations, and the attempts to get her to swim may have just be innocent attempts at some kind of friendship, but it would be unwise to rush into any such situation without further proper study.

During Constance Valenciennes observations she had not seen a single other creature of its kind, leading her to believe the aquatic creature may be a cursed or transformed human.

The rest of Constance Valenciennes comments and observations can be found in her sketches made during her time observing and interacting with the aquatic creature.
