2024-03-21 00:50:54 +0000 UTCJust to make it clear, that was indeed Mariko that John slept with at the end of the episode, she was just providing an explanation to use to other people, like Fuji. Also i've heard from other commenters, some of the potential reasons for the cannons during the demonstration being more accurate is: 1. In the scenes where John demostrates the cannon, he is using a tool to calculate the angle the cannon needs to fire at. This may be unique to the english at the time, plus the real person that John Blackthorne is heavily based on(William Adams), was a skilled mathemathician, which very well might be the case for Blackthorne too. 2. The portoguese may have withheld their actual capabilities of their cannons from the Japanese, as a sort of ace up their sleeve. 3. The portoguese may have been using stone cannonballs, which are less accurate than the iron cannonballs we see used during the demonstration of the cannons.
