The Expanse 2x1 & 2x2 Full Reaction! (Meeting Bobbi!)

Wow I am in love with this series so far! I just feel so connected to this story already and I love all of the characters. Amos and Jim, Naomi and Alex and Miller! And now even Bobbie seems amazing. So excited to see where this series goes.

The Expanse 2x1 & 2x2 Full Reaction! (Meeting Bobbi!)

Hi there - new Patreon member here, joined up to watch your Expanse reactions (yay!). Loving your analysis and commentary, and as others have said, you do a great job of catching stuff that a lot of reactors have missed. Nice work. I know you're a few episodes ahead IRL, so maybe you've already learned this, but just in case: In addition to all the ethical problems with Dresden's arguments (which you've smartly noted), his "defending ourselves against an enemy who's already fired the first shot" line is actually a load of crap. Consider this: If Phoebe really were targeted at Earth and the Protomolecule (blue stuff) was intended to hijack Earth life for whatever purpose -- and that's just speculation -- that targeting occurred many, many years ago, back when life on Earth was mostly or entirely single-cellular primordial soup. It was not a threat to humankind or any of the population of modern day Earth, at least it wasn't until Dresden and his team starting screwing with it. So, yeah, he's really pretty much full of shit. There are no aliens coming to get us. And even if there *were* aliens headed our way, this is not the way to handle it, as you have already said. It's a good story to tell to rile people up, though. Fear is a great motivator, as many salesman (and many politicians) have learned.

Gotta say I love how you pull the real world into what happens in so many scenes. Can't say I've seen that at the same level before. You also get intensely involved in what transpires and I love watching it! And to think...it's only going to get wilder, more insane, more intense, and more surprising as the show moves forward! Looking forward to next week, enjoy your day!

The attraction between Holden and Naomi did seem to be a gradual evolving attraction. They both come across as good people. Naomi is nice looking. Bobbie is a good addition. The politics on Earth are already growing somewhat tiresome to me, especially because of those having what seems like over-hawkish positions and because there seems to be some form of self-enriching going on with the rabid hawk UN Undersecretary. Chrisjen Avasarala (the older female politician on Earth) is an interesting character. I like that she plans to reach out to Fred Johnson.

It's apt you should mention that we(Earthers i guess), in the present day don't think all that much about the future. Because in the Expanse universe there's a lot of signs that we did not care about climate change, evidenced by the much higher sea levels in the shots of New York. For example Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty being protected by flood barriers. In other words, we did not care enough about climate change to the point where sea levels rose significantly.

Beautiful badass Bobbie! One of my (many) fav characters.

Season 2, we made it! So the new character has 2 different nicknames, the first is "Gunny" which is short for her rank "Gunnery Sergeant" or she's just called Bobbie. She has a New Zealand accent by the way. What's interesting about the first episode here is that Mars thinks Earth knows what going on, Earth thinks Mars knows whats going on but neither government really has any idea about what's really happening. With the exception of that one bad guy Errinwright who's Chrisjen's boss. Also the show doesn't make it super clear but the fancy medical chairs Holden and Miller were sitting in at the start basically cured them of the radiation poisoning. They're called Autodocs. But now Holden and Miller will have to take daily medication to kill any cancer cells that might grow in them in the future. Another important thing to know is something called "light delay." What was happening around Phoebe station was so far from earth that it took 20 minutes for light or radio messages to get to earth from the ships near Phoebe. The distances are so great that it's impossible to have a live video chat with someone, it literally takes at least 20 minutes for video and radio messages to get from around Phoebe to Earth. Plus another 20 minutes for earth to respond. We sometimes think that the speed of light is instant but it's not when we're dealing with these huge distances.
