Outlander 7x3 & 7x4 Full Reaction!

Comments

I love that Bree and Roger bought Lallybroch, it looks beautiful. At the start of the episode you talked about how refreshing the air would have been back then. I sometimes think about things like that, how different the water would taste. The water in Scotland is beautiful, it tastes very different than it does in England. It always takes a little getting used to when traveling between Scotland and England. I loved the scene when Bree was applying for the job as plant inspector. The guy tells her she's a woman, she asks "And what aspects of plant inspection require a penis?" I love how she holds her own, she then schools him on what needs to be done. The guy was lost for words. That was such a fun scene. She was so excited to tell Roger that she got the job. He said he knew she would, that he just didn't think they would give it to her because she's a woman. He then said that he wanted to be the breadwinner, that he wants to be the one to provide for them. I love that he feels that way, but Bree is just as capable, I'd just ask her what she wants. If she wants a career then I would be at home with the kids, and would have dinner waiting for her when she gets back. And then at night I would give her a wee foot rub. Just a chance to take care of the woman I love. I loved your reaction to Tom kissing Claire. Damn! I thought he was dead. The way he looks at Claire, he really is in love with her. It's so sad that he can never be with the woman he loves, and he knows that, but there still must be times when he thinks to himself what life would be like to be with her, that happiness, that love. I love the scene when Claire tells Jamie that Tom kissed her, Jamie made me laugh when he asks Claire if she liked it. They are so beautiful together, they have such a fun and healthy relationship. I like when Bree and Roger were talking about Jemmy and the things he sees. Roger said that he would talk to him, I love what he said "I just worry that if we stifle his imagination, he'll forget where he comes from, who he comes from. He'll stop believing his own story." He's a good father. I must say, you looked really beautiful Imon, I like the tartan jumper that you were wearing. Your Outlander jumper. You're beautiful, always. <3

Episode 3 was sad when Jamie and Claire had to watch their house burn. Not all is lost. It's like you said "At least they're alive and they have each other. I like when you said "Thankfully you can always rebuild... That's the good thing about life, if you're still alive. Another great lesson that Outlander teaches us." I loved that scene when Jamie was praying that he'd be enough, I love at the end when Claire told him "You will always be enough." I like when Roger and Bree went to Lallybroch, we then find out it's for sale, they have the gold, I hope they buy it. You said, "You got to keep it in the family." You were laughing and said that it all comes all around and that you love this show so much, all the connections. "The Web of Life." I love that. I'm glad they found Adso, you asked if he has eight lives left now? That made me laugh. It was really sad when Claire had to let him go. At the end of the video you said that when the series ends you're going to read the books to keep this story alive. I hope that they bring you a lot of joy and comfort in those moments when you miss Jamie and Claire. You then asked why we love this series so much. Back in season 3 you talked about relationships and how beautiful it is when you know when someone loves you. I said that I wish I knew what it feels like when someone loves you, that I've never heard those words before, that I've never even said them myself and that is why I want Jamie and Claire to be together so much, and I know that they are only fictional characters, but maybe they can have what I never will. I really hope when this is all over that Claire and Jamie still have each other. I so badly want a happy ending for them both, after everything they've both been through, they deserve it. It's been a pleasure watching with you and listening to what you have to say. You're beautiful Imon, always. <3

I am not even sure to be honest, I need to go back through them all. That is such a good question

I found the TV series in 2022. I binge watched the first 5 seasons multiple times. Then I hit my first Droughtlander. So, I bought the books. I have read them multiple times. I also read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander spin off books. The books give so much more details and explain a lot of things. I'm one who enjoys both the TV world and the book world for what they are. I hope you will take the book journey some day.

which season intro is your favorite?

Unfortunately, I still haven't read the books. But watching the entire series for the 2nd time with you (already knowing the plot) allowed me to catch all the subtle connections and Easter eggs which I had missed the first time. For example, during my first watch I thought that Bree and Roger couldn't pass through the stones the first time because they both thought of home and as a result the stones brought them home. In other words, it was just a consequence of their deep feelings and therefore proof that they actually belonged in the 1700s with their family. However, on the second watch, I realized that the 'forces of the stones' (whatever those may be) probably couldn't allow them to return to the future because they still hadn't played their vital part in the time loop at that point (Bree still didn't produce the matches and Tom Christie's trial for Malva's murder wasn't supposed to happen anytime soon). During the second watch, I also went into the similar rabbit hole with the song 'Boogie Woogie' which Claire and Murtagh sang on their road trip. Claire uses a modern song from the 1940s (it's a real life song Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by the Andrews Sisters) and changes the original lyrics with the words of the poem 'The Reels o' Boogie' which Dougal recited to Jamie as a child (so Jamie would recognize it). We see the song then becomes a huge hit in the 1700s Highlands (Gypsies steal it and spread it further by continuing to perform it). Could that mean the melody then stuck among folks and was passed down through generations until the 1940s? And then the Andrews Sisters heard the melody and used it as inspiration for their hit single? (In Outlander universe, not in real life of course ๐Ÿ˜„) They changed the original lyrics (Claire's lyrics) to fit their 1940s circumstances, while in return Claire changed their original lyrics in the first place (to fit her 1700s circumstances)? ๐Ÿคฏ

Your comment is so awesome it makes me even more excited about how everything is so tied together. The web of their lives! Are you a book reader?? The Jacobite gold does seem to represent something very important.. And it does keep coming around again and again. SO I am very curious about the meaning of it all.

Thanks for another heartfelt reaction Imon, you're such a beautiful soul, I love Outlander for the exactly same reasons you described. I also laughed out loud to Claire's face when Tom kissed her, comedic gold! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I like that William presented himself to Ian as William James, since that was the Catholic name Jamie gave him during the Hellwater stables scene in season 3, when they were saying goodbye to each other forever. Which means either he remembered that event or John Grey made sure Willie remembered that middle name. I also liked the callback to Adawehi (Cherokee wise woman/healer). It's funny how we all thought that Claire mending Tom's hand was just a plot device to showcase Tom's stubborn character and partly for comic relief. When in reality it's actually what saves him from dying in the end and enables him to write the infamous obituary (which starts this whole time loop of Briana coming to the past). On the same note, we also thought that Brianna inventing matches (and nobody caring for it) was just a comic relief moment to lighten up the dark season 6 storylines. When in reality, if Bree hadn't invented the matches, the infamous house-burning incident wouldn't have happended at all, and there would be no reason for her to come back to the past in the first place. Ironically, she went to the past to prevent an event and ended up causing the very event she came back to prevent. A perfect example of a 'boot-strap paradox' and it brings us back to the question 'What's older - the chicken or the egg?'. So Bree was basically right when she told Roger that maybe their actions were part of God's plan all along, even though she only said it to confort him. Makes me wonder whether Claire and Jamie trying so desperately to prevent the Culloden battle was actually what enabled the battle to happen the way it was always supposed to (and whether Claire and Jamie were always a vital part of that Culloden time loop). It's also interesting how the legendary French Jacobite gold intended for Charles Stuart subtly weaves through the entire series and significantly influences the plot multiple times. The part which Dougal took and hid on the island in Scotland sets in motion the whole story of Jamie/John Grey/Ian/Geilis trying to retrieve it from that island cave. The part that Hector Cameron took completely changed Jocasta's and Mr. and Mrs. Bug's lives (and we just started seeing the effect it has on Roger, Bree and their family ๐Ÿ™‚ ).
