The scene at the start with the planes, I still remember seeing this episode for the first time and thinking, they're not even on the ground and already they're fighting. Everyone involved in this series did such a great job bringing this story to life. The fighting scenes are so realistic you feel like you're there. It gives us all just a small taste of what they all went through, what they all experienced on a daily basis, night and day, for years, for what must have felt like a lifetime for them. The scene where Malarkey meets that guy from Eugene Oregon, he said his family answered the call, that he joined up in 1941 to fight for Germany, and because of what he believes he's now fighting the very people he grew up with his whole life, people that he might have known. You said you wouldn't have known he was on the German side unless he was wearing his uniform. You then said "Once you take off the uniform and you just put on regular clothing you fit in. We won't know that you have blood on your hands." You spoke a little about ideology, that when people are raised a certain way they see things a certain way. And that we can't change people's minds. I love what you said next. "Hopefully people eventually grow and they meet people and they become friends with people and they have relationships. They build relationships and are like, you know what? I was wrong. We're human, we're supposed to be friends, we're supposed to love each other, we're supposed to take care of each other, we're not supposed to be each others mortal enemies. I'm not better than these people and they're not better than me. They're not below me and I'm not below them." This is why I love your channel, because of moments like this. I just love the way you talk, the way you see things. You're beautiful Imon, always. <3

Thanks! My pleasure!

Thank you so much for breaking it down like that. If I have any trouble I will come back to this comment and re-read this. I truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to help me understand this more because I probably would have still been stuck. You’re awesome!

Yeah you're correct Imon, Private Hall was in Sherlock and Fleabag. Hall and Winters were in different "companies" that's the word you were looking for. Winters is from E company, Hall was from A company. So here's a brief explanation of these military units and terminology. "Easy" or E Company has about 140 guys in it. E Company has 3 platoons, each platoon is about 40-ish guys. Each platoon is made up of three squads. So 3 squads makes a platoon, 3 platoons makes a "company". Easy Company is just one of 9 companies in the 506th regiment. Each company is named after a letter of the alphabet A through I. The 506th regiment is about 1500 soldiers and is commanded by Colonel Sink, the old guy with the mustache from the first episode. Finally the 101st Airborne division is about 10,000 guys made up of multiple regiments. So Easy company is part of the 506th regiment which is part of the 101st Airborne division. I don't know whether that makes things more complicated or less complicated. Also they use the the term NCO a lot. NCO means non-commissioned officer aka a Sergeant. "XO" means "executive officer" as in second in command, CO is "commanding officer". Hope that helps a little.
