When Fives is on the radio to Krell and Fives is pretending everything's fine, that's a reference to the first star wars movie "A New Hope." It's a reference to the scene where Luke and Han kill a bunch of stormtroopers on the death star, and Han gets on the radio and pretends everything is normal, but of course the stormtrooper on the other end of the conversation doesn't buy it. So Han shoots the radio and says the famous line, "Boring conversation anyway."
