I know Rimuru later starts an internal method of exchange and a means of compensation for the workers, but apparently monsters don't care about money, I can't remember what they do end up using, though. I think it's something like coupons for various treats or privileges. Rimuru originally gave them a lot even before that point: food, housing, protection, even a naming. I also know he expects them to work if they expect to live there. I imagine disability is not much of a problem with monsters. I might come back and add to this comment if I find out more.
