Midnight Mass Ep 04 REACTION

Midnight Mass Ep 04 REACTION

My one and only complaint about the show is that they had so many actors in old age make up. I have to admit it kind of took me out of the show little because as soon as I noticed it I figured the only reason why they would have so many "younger" actors in old age make up is so they can de-age characters and make them younger/healthier. Which made me think "Well how will they get younger" and given the setting and title of the show I immediately thought "Vampires". So right off the bat, not even half way thru the first episode knowing it was gonna be about vampires, kind of removed a lot of the mystery and suspense for me.

Personally I don't think she would. She already stated at the start of this series she doesn't really like horror. She also said that it tends to stick with her and especially when trying to get to sleep. Hill house is a lot more jump based with it's scares as well as has a lot more ghostly "imagery". In this reaction during the scene in the cave she had her arm covering her face the whole time, if this was hell house she'd only be able to watch like 30% of the show lol. I think it's a really good show and that she would enjoy the character drama and acting. But given what she said about how horror affects her and what's going on personally, I wouldn't recommend it at the moment. Just my opinion.

I don't think the Father is evil. I think he is a good man. What I appreciate about this show is how it portrays the evil good people can do with bad beliefs. I love the combination on vampirism and Christianity, because there are scriptures that would support the Father's decisions. He justifies his evil with the book. He sees miracles. That is what is so pernicious about religion, it can support and grow goodness, but it can also deceive and make good people do horrible things. It doesn't have the philosophical foundation to distinguish between the two beyond naked assertions for either side. This show portrays that beautifully while still respecting religious people.

She would love young Luke

I really loved the visions of death from Erin and Riley. I'm also not religious at all but the idea that "heaven" is just some kind of dream where we are with our loved ones and are just loved and not alone is beautiful.

Great reaction! Truly. I especially liked the closing thoughts you had. I agree with you about seeking help and recognizing how the harm that’s been done to us can result in harming others unintentionally. I know for me, my dad cut out on us when I was 11. Came back to take everything while we were at my aunts for Christmas. That hurt shaped who I am and taught me how not to be in but in some ways to my detriment. Now I’m a bit of a people pleaser because I don’t want anyone feeling that kind of hurt and abandonment. I’m aware of it. Making changes in my life around it but it just proves your point. As for the “Angel” in the show, I honestly think it is an Angel. People hear angel and they think of good and beings created to help. They tend to ignore a large number of them were cast out and deformed in their fall. The halo Father Pruett (sorry if I spelled that wrong) saw when first meeting the angel was dim but present. It could have been a trick of the light or his eyes adjusting to being youthful again but I think it really was a halo. Food for thought i guess. You hit the nail on the head with one of your predictions but I won’t say which. Glad you’re enjoying the show. It’s a lot of the cast and I think director of Bly Manor and haunting of Hill House. Great actors/team. Be well and keep watching!
