2022-03-21 21:49:18 +0000 UTCSo it would be best to consider Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night as separate timelines from Fate/Grand Order. The Holy Grail War that occurred in Zero and Stay Night was basically just a competition between mage families and other magus to effectively gain the Holy Grail to grant their wish. Most mages depicted in those series were typically chasing after the something called "Third Magic" in order to reach the Root of all magic. At any rate, the scope was relatively small in scale being a mage war contained within one city - Fuyuki, Japan. However, Fate/Grand Order is vastly greater in scale where the entire past, present, and future of humanity is at stake. In the Grand Order timeline, the Fuyuki Holy Grail War did take place in 2004 with a clear winner...and the winner was shown in FGO episode 0. It was the person that hired Dr. Romani to be apart of Chaldea. So while you may see familiar servants from Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night in Grand Order, there is no linear connection of the events of Zero and Stay/Night to where you are currently at in Grand Order. The premise and the rules of the world are the same like the servants, Holy Grails and the like. Non-servant characters that existed in Zero and Stay Night may also exist in Grand Order but with differing lives to one degree or another. But effectively what happened in Fuyuki in the Grand Order timeline is different from what you saw in the other series. In the Grand Order timeline, the organization of Chaldea was created for the sole purpose of preserving humanity. And they discovered that humanity's future had ended in 2017. They found certain important points in history had been disrupted causing the future to be uncertain. And then began their adventure of restoring these points in history that became singularities in their timeline in order to prevent humanity's end. There were 7 singularities that needed restoring. It has been indicated that at this point, 6 of the singularities have been restored with Babylonia being the 7th. The architect of these disruptions in history has been referenced in some of the episodes of Grand Order you have watched thus far. The Mage King Solomon had sent 7 Holy Grails into the past to create these singularities and end humanity. That's why Fujimaru and Mash are so concerned about locating the Holy Grail in this Babylonia singularity. Really glad you're enjoying the story so far. Personally, I like the Grand Order storyline for it's sense of an epic adventure throughout history. So it's great to re-experience it again watching along with you :)
