Squid Game 1x7 REACTION

Squid Game 1x7 REACTION

Comments

Any chance of a double upload this week? If I recall correctly, episode 8 was a lot shorter than the rest of them.

I'm not psycho-analyzing you or making assumptions. You clearly stated that you don't care about respect because my opinion was different than yours, and I called you out. As you said in a previous comment, "2nd: Your level respect for me matters less than zero seeing as you’re a stranger & defending the VIPs." I'm telling you that your attitude towards respect genuinely doesn't help you convince people to share your opinion, which is your objective. (If not, I don't see why you'd bother typing all this.) Disrespecting people and acting passive-aggressively only makes them want to agree with you even less. I know this from personal experience, because I am a stubborn person myself and I certainly don't want to agree with a word you say after that whole mess. I didn't give you advice to assert my superiority, but because I've had similar thoughts to yours about respect, and they never do me any good. I don't know, I've been so bitter about humanity for so long that I hoped I'd say something and someone would actually notice and take it to heart.

AEy

Wow thanks soy man, I hope to one day to obtain your level of respect, maturity, and TOTAL NON attitude of 'more evolved than everyone else'. Hell my guy you even play a part in internet conversations (that are intended to be cheeky & fun) & act as a self-volunteered unqualified arm chair internet psychologist for people just looking to yuck it up about pop culture! Take a deep breath Doc okay? I'm having fun bitching/debating/ranting with folks who have also seen the show & i consider intelligent enough to have confrontational (which for me sometimes is more entertaining: perhaps that's the disconnect in taking the exaggerations too seriously) conversations with. My ACTUAL therapist can handle the real life stuff, in the mean time stop diagnosing people in comment sections. Drop the charged words like "respect" or assuming you somehow know someone's life because they ignore your advice. As I hope it has been made evident by your participation so far you're truly in no position to lecture while pretending to be self-righteous? You get that right?

Fortuna

Okay, it's evident to me that you aren't open to other people's opinions, so I won't bother even talking about the VIPs or the show. The fact that you think respect doesn't matter shows how little you know about the world. If you carry that attitude with you everywhere you go, you won't get far, especially when it comes to persuasion and leadership. You can be stubborn and ignore my advice, or you can reflect and be a better person. The choice is yours.

AEy

That is an exceptional point that I’ve never heard anyone make! Wow! Good thinking!

Fortuna

Just want to point out, if the guy needed to check the sound of the correct glass, he should have tested the one he was standing on.

AverageAnime

Cute. Have you considered you’ve been lowering your expectations for everything in life to the point you don’t even feel the appropriate subconscious shame for settling?

Fortuna

Have you considered that for whatever reason you identify with the VIPs and for some reason feel hurt by their portrayal? They’re really not out of line with the level of camp that the show already has.

Nate Judge

1st: I never acknowledged any reasons, I acknowledged the EXCUSES! 2nd: Your level respect for me matters less than zero seeing as you’re a stranger & defending the VIPs. 3rd: “Maybe you should lower your standards” perfectly encapsulates your position…and it’s not a great look. 4th: Lastly the question “can you really expect Koreans to write Americans as well as Americans?” Is assuming you have to make a choice between the two. If they weren’t capable of writing the VIPs to better fit the tone that’s on THEM! Be better or hire a couple Americans writers to do punch up. American movies have characters speak other languages all the time, it doesn’t excuse them from having to put in the effort to have their dialogue work in their language.

Fortuna

If they had set a precedent in the beginning that they could trust one another. The man who worked with glass would have spoken up earlier. The problem is we are getting very self centered as a society, at least in the west. And it’s all about gotta get mines. Whereas certain cultures in the past would lay down their lives for others for honor as well as not fearing death, The way we do. I would love to further go into these thoughts in a separate video at some point hopefully.

Imon_Snow

Yes afterwards we talked about this and I agree that it could have definitely helped. I’d rather throw a shoe at glass than my body. It’s interesting how they even said to take your shoes off. I still believe there were many loopholes in squid game. Most people didn’t actually have to die if people worked together. And I think that’s the point the creator is trying to make. Humans will resort to violence and not work as a team as a first instinct. When they are in dire situations. Just interesting to think about

Imon_Snow

Even IF that was the case, how would they know which sound is the correct one? You only have two shoes for two panes of glass, and noone's going to help you.

Cheezcaek

How do you literally acknowledge the reasons why the VIPs were written as they were, then immediately dismiss those things and say there's no excuse? Frankly, The Hunt and Squid Game are incomparable here because one is an American film, and the other is a Korean show. Can you really expect Koreans to write American villains as clever as Americans, or English-speaking people in general? Maybe lower your standards and stop giving yourself too much credit with the whole "That is simply a fact not an opinion" crap. The only two scenarios where somebody would say that are either the person doesn't know what those two words mean, or they're arrogant. Either way, not a good look. It certainly doesn't earn you any respect.

AEy

You're going to tell me with a straight face the depiction of elitists wasn't resounding funnier/more intelligent in the hunt than episode 7 of squid game? If so I'll respectfully strongly agree to disagree.

Fortuna

They're definitely heavy enough to make a sound when thrown with force what are you talking about? In your scenario someone throwing a pair of (what looked like vans) against glass/non glass as hard as you can won't create a sound?

Fortuna

My man's really tryna use The Hunt as a counter argument lmaoo

SupremeCai

How would your shoes help? They’re not nearly heavy enough to break the glass nor hard enough to generate the sound that differentiates them.

Naijeru

multiple episodes make me lean towards a suspicion but i'll keep it to myself until the end.

Matthew Fortuna

Squid game hack: they said take off your shoes, they never said you couldn't take them with you to test the glass

Matthew Fortuna

I haven't even begun the reaction and I want to make some things clear because every comment thread devolves into the same counter points to the objection to the VIP's. TO BE CLEAR: 1) I understand it was written by non english speakers & it is difficult to find quality english acting in SK on a small budget. 2) I recognize they were supposed to be portrayed as immature morons who lucked into their fortunes yet judge these poor people. I get it, trust me, I do. There is NO EXCUSE for how absolutely sacrilegiously horrible the VIP's were: 1) WRITTEN 2) ACTED. They were an abomination and a disgrace, that is simply a fact not an opinion. Even the people defending them acknowledge the CHEESY dialogue. Look at a movie like the hunt where they also had elitist A holes who played with the poor's lives yet they wrote those villains in a humorous smart way. All of the hard earned tension with these characters is wasted on these BRUTAL dialogue.
