The show is a great commentary on the dangers of Capitalism. You basically either work yourself to death and suffer til you retire or... well you die. Usually if you are smarter, good looking, or just work hard enough, life supposedly gets easier. But what happens when it's an even playing field and none of that matters. Your true self tends to come out. I love this show. So happy you're reacting to it.

“If the people running this were good people, they’d help. But they’re not.”
Actually a really good summary of the shows thesis.

You have big hearts but not all of them deserve your sympathy. The main character, 456, is a terrible person. He's perfectly capable of getting a job but would rather leach off his mother. His brother/older male friend is a con man who stole from his clients, and the guy who beat up the North Korean girl is a straight up gangster.
The North Korean girl is who I feel for the most. Escaping the absolute horror of that totalitarian communist (redundant, I know) country and desperate to get the rest of your family to freedom.
