it really actually doesn't go away in season 4 whatsoever but people have completely forced this narrative in their mind despite it never holding true on a rewatch.

The whole sailing class scenario was ridiculously hilarious, but that's one of Community's strengths, it manages to be amazingly funny without simply feeling stupid even when the situations themselves are absolutely insane.

2021-12-08 19:52:49 +0000 UTCDan Harmon's favorite Community reviewer back when it was on TV (Emily VanDerWerff on the AVClub) would also engage in very long, introspective discussions about the themes and the nuances in each episode. It's a silly show but it has a lot of heart, a lot of soul, and a lot of sadness buried in it. Anyone who is knocking you for enjoying the show enough to talk about it isn't watching the show for the same reasons. y'all are great don't sweat it

2021-12-08 19:51:01 +0000 UTCIt's so crazy how this show constantly has Pierce teach life lessons, and they're smart and poignant, but he's also the most unlikable character on the cast. Accepting failure is one of the most basic things you have to learn in life, but also one of the most difficult. A lot of this episode was about accepting who you are in the face of potential failure. Pierce as a failure that will keep trying, Jeff as a person that is capable of failure, and Shirley as someone who doesn't need to change in order to succeed. You guys are absolutely right... there are messages underneath the hilarity. If anyone tells you otherwise, they're not paying attention. This is much more than just a show about jokes.

As far as I know you have both always tried to be inclusive and open and not in any way negative. I hope the complaints don't deter future banter or jokes :) love from Ireland
