Mr. Robot 4x2 REACTION

REACTION LINK HERE: https://streamable.com/58m1nn

Hey all,

Nerd Chronic here. We apologize for the delay on this one. As you can see in the background, Imon has moved homes. This contributed to the delay for this one as she was finishing setting up this weekend. You may even notice that the set isn't exactly 100% ready but they were able to get the reaction recorded.

Everything is settled now and there shouldn't be any further interruptions. Thank you for the patience.

Thanks for the great reaction guys! Hope you two are having a good holiday season!

Brian

I get your point sorry 😩I just get excited by any new reactors to this show. I’ll be more careful going forward

Lorraine Casey

Sorry for the long post, I had to vent. tl;dr: don't correct a reactor even if they are 100% wrong, unless there is something obvious that they had missed due to not paying attention. It's gonna mess with their expectations, and there is no turning back.

Andrew

I didn't say anything about what happens next in the show lol, don't gaslight me because you've been called out. I can go through your comment and find several instances of things that are extremely close to being spoilers, same with Brandon's comment on the other post. They aren't full-on spoilers, of course, but they get dangerously close and can definitely mess with your expectations if you haven't yet seen the whole show. 1. "Last scene is basically a mindscape for inside Elliot's head". But Imon and Abi don't know that. Nobody knew that when they saw it for the first time. People definitely suspected that, but nobody knew the details. 2. "Elliot's mother and child self are also in his head BUT THEY DON'T REALLY COME OUT AND TAKE OVER". Do I really need to explain why that second part is dodgy as fuck? Because it looks self-evident. Imon & Abi don't know that. Maybe they do come out and take over, or maybe they already did and we missed it or maybe they will come out and take over at some point, there are dozens of possibilities, but the point is that when you bring their attention to that detail, it's changing their expectations once again. All the comments you make are from a standpoint of a person who's watched the entire show, probably more than once. They are experiencing it for the first time, so let them be wrong. Don't correct them unless there is something very obvious that they had missed due to talking over or missing a line of dialogue e.t.c. It's not cool and it's messing with their experience. I really hate the fact that some people just don't seem to understand that even innocent comments like 'oh just you wait what happens in episode X of season Y, it's gonna blow your minds' or 'if you don't like character X now just you wait till later...' are changing a reactor's expectations. And anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that changes a reactor's expectations, for better or worse, is a spoiler in itself. Natalie Gold was the victim of that. She has been bombarded with so many comments by well-intentioned idiots throughout watching Game of Thrones who would say that later seasons are shit, that despite thoroughly enjoying the show for the first 5 seasons, she just started looking for every single wrong thing in season 6, to the point where her reactions became virtually unwatchable due to all the unreasonable moaning, even in universally praised episodes like 6x5, 9 & 10.

Andrew

I dont think anyone was spoiling. If anything your comment seems more spoilerish by talking about things that come into play later. As far as I can see it’s just explaining the Elliot/Mr Robot situation because it is confusing to understand.

tom

I'm struggling to understand why people in the comments feel the need to explain the board room scene for Imon & Abi. They were wrong about what it was, but so what? That is their theory, that is how they experience the show. Let them figure it all out on their own, because in an attempt to correct them on what they saw you're borderline spoiling some of the details that don't even come into play until later in the season. I understand that's not your intention, but that's how it is.

Andrew

The boardroom is inside Elliot’s head . And if you are wanting Elliot tears oh just wait😩😭

I love the whole subplot with their mother this episode and how it subverts your expectations. You think it's going to be a thing of them putting on a front, but deep down they are sad about their mother's death because she is their mother, and that's how these things progress in fiction, that the characters need to deal with their grief. But then it turns out no, they actually don't really care because abusive parents don't deserve respect or love just because they are their parents. Too many stories will go that way so it's refreshing to see that it just brought up the fact that they haven't dealt with Angela's death yet, which, yeah, a main character died just an episode ago. It's also so adorable and heartbreaking hearing the recording of Elliot and Darlene making a happy mother's day message for their friend's mom and how that was probably the most maternal love they got. I'm still so happy you guys are reacting to this in December haha. Season 4 is great from a writing standpoint but also technically you can see how the cinematography and directing is a step above what came before. The writer and director improved a lot in between S3 and S4, and in S4 he went for a whole different look. S3 was very grey and washed out and isolated, but in S4 the camera is more closer and shots are typically more beautiful. There's also a lot of warm colors. So the last scene is basically a mindscape for inside Elliot's head. This is actually a thing accurate to people with Dissociative Identity Disorder. The things their brains can apparently do are really wild. Elliot's mother and child self are also in his head but they don't really come out or take over, unlike Mr Robot who is a dominant/main one
