BoJack Horseman 6x12 REACTION

BoJack Horseman 6x12 REACTION

I think the bigger point is he didn't even try to help her. He didn't intentionally do it knowing she was alive. But his very first instinct was to save himself.

Adam Vialpando

She was alive but he didn't know that at the time. He left and waited 17 minutes to make the cover story that they had separated before and he found her. This is Bojack, he wouldn't be able to tell that she was still alive after OD'ing. Plus, it wouldn't make sense for him to go through all that just for a simple overdose. They were both career addicts. At the very worst he would have dumped her at a hospital if he knew she was still alive.

Biostar

But she actually was alive. He clearly knew something was wrong because he left, waited in the parking lot for 17 minutes, and then came back to pretend that he’d just found her. So unfortunately I think it’s pretty likely that his actions were all intentional.

Chelle

For me its like a scene in a horror movie where the killer is right behind them and you cant do anything except yell at the screen hes right behind you!

Daniel Gonzalez

Bojack seemed to imply that at the time of her overdose that he didn't know she was still alive and just assumed. I would like to believe he wouldn't purposefully let Sarah Lynne die and would have called 911 immediately or rush her to the hospital.

Biostar

The fame is absolutely what killed her. Child actors suffer so much. Her parents pressured her to be a success. Her father abused her sexually(its basically canon), the pressure of her fan base made her do drugs. So yes, the fame and Hollywood lifestyle WAS what killed her. Bojack was right. Yes, "it was mostly the heroin", but what caused her to use the heroin? Remember her "I dont like anything about me" speech when she was high? Remember how she drank alcohol on set when her parents were making her want to avoid them? Remember her quotes in flash backs and at herbs funeral? Her fan base and her parents were toxic. Her life was drained away. Hollywood killed her. And the fact her parents canonicaly milked her death just proves it. Its a subtle detail but its a detail and proof none the less.

this episode is SO damn stressful omg but i felt your frustration when he agreed to the 2nd interview... really dug his own grave

Jessica

Always love your break down at the end of these episodes guys. Can't wait to see what ya'll think about these last 4 episodes. What a journey, huh? 👍

Ryan Peters

He has a terrible pattern with everyone. He just does it more frequently with women because he yearns that woman's love he never got from his mother.

@Adam Vialpando -- I agree. His true addiction is fame. He loves being famous because he loves being and feeling loved. But he's always unfulfilled cause FAME is fleeting. This leads him to doing impulsive things... like that interview, which ultimately leads him to hurting the ones he loves the most. It's tragic.

Just Alyx

I think that’s simply because he’s attracted to women, romantically and sexually. He hurts women more often than men because he often gets closer to women. Occasionally men get hurt as well, but clearly not as often

Chelle

@Adam Vialpando She's not entirely neutral though - she's an outside perspective, sure, but we see in this episode that how she portrays Bojack is motivated by her ratings and career. Which isn't to say that she's not right in most of what she says, just that complete neutrality is almost impossible. But yeah, definitely agree that unintentional harm is still harmful, I don't mean to defend any of Bojack's actions of course.

Avery Winther

Sure she doesn't have all the facts but she is also a neutral party who can look at Bojack's actions objectively in a way his friends and we cannot totally so. And the truth is he has dangerous patterns to his behavior. We all know the intentional predators like Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby. But almost as dangerous are people who unconsciously use and hurt people. I have known people like that. They don't intend to hurt people they love. But they do. Also sometimes people have a false sense of their actions. For some it can be easy to overlook the power they have over others. Something that they might think is totally consensual that merely happens because the other party is afraid of the power they wield over them.

Adam Vialpando

He got off drugs and alcohol but didn't realize that they were a symptom, not the cause.

Adam Vialpando

I think Bojack definitely does have a bad pattern with women, even if he's not consciously aware of it or TRYING to be a predator

Francesca White

Pretty sure everyone reacted the way y’all did during the second interview. I myself probably facepalmed 10 times on my first watch. And also, that reveal about Sarah Lynn’s death. Wtf BoJack

Chelle

I really hate this episode. I hate it because it's like watching someone running towards a wall and you not being able to do anything about it. The moment Bojack got that validation, he regressed immediately. Which is SUPER frustrating, yet totally believable. All Bojack ever wanted was to be loved but he constantly searched for it in all the wrong ways. Well he tempted fate and it finally bit him in the ass. I mean... at least he finally owned his shit right? Ughhhh.

Just Alyx

Yeah, we only found out Bojack waited to call an ambulance in this episode - it's a bit of a reality-check that we as the audience also don't know everything he's done. Really puts us in the shoes of the people who'd see the interview. And for sure Biscuits paints a picture that isn't entirely true? She doesn't have all the facts - which is both good and bad. She doesn't know that Bojack's intentions aren't predatory, but she also doesn't know about Gina, or that the Penny story is way worse than "took a girl to the prom". (also hell yes, romcom spinoff with PC and Judah, i'd watch the shit out of that!!!)
