BoJack Horseman 5x8 FULL REACTION

BoJack Horseman 5x8 FULL REACTION

I really like this episode too. So clever how it mashes the different parties together and shows the progression of PB's relationships (or lack of progression). Also, the little background jokes are amazing, like the moth who eats a little more of his sheet costume each time, until it's just a scrap covering his eyes by the end.

This episode was a great look into Mr. Peanutbutter's relationships and character study on him. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks and Mr. PB is one who is really stuck in his ways and painfully oblivious to any problems it causes. When he does see them he mostly chooses to look away. Hopefully what Diane helped him realize about himself sticks and he can explore the ways he is stunted and grow.

Grow up, buddy.

This is my low key favorite episode. Like after the ones we all agree are brilliant and heartbreaking I always return to this, but it gets no love. I think it's frustrating to see the characters grow and change while pb stays the same but it's also comforting in a way. And endlessly entertaining. Obviously, y'all gleaned the issues this was trying to illustrate immediately. Thank you :)

I feel like all the main characters fail to hold themselves accountable and in check most of the time. Idk if therapy is good for Bojack, necessarily but he definitely needs to talk out his shit with someone he trusts, and whenever he finds someone who's willing to do that he deflects and rejects that help. Peanut Butters issues are p well examined here... I guess generally he just can't better himself cause he refuses self-examination in general. Diane constantly holds people to a higher standard than she holds herself to... She tells other people to "do the work" when she just goes through the motions, etc. Princess Carolyn desperately seeks self-determination while constantly and voluntarily asserting herself into other people's issues and kinda uses it to self-victimize. And Todd's prolly the most wholesome, but he def talks about how other people's actions effect him while he pulls wacky shenanigan after shenanigan without worrying how his actions affect others.
