HELLO!!
I've hit a roadblock once again with my new model, so I decided to get more knowledge by doing ANOTHER MODEL lol. I also really wanted to learn about Blender's animation system and cameras, and how scenes work and stuff like that, so I thought I could go through a "behind the scenes" of how I created the music video for my newest cover of Pipo Pipo!
With this one I was really inspired by the old videos used for DDR and stuff, as well as the "y2k" chibi look kinda? At the same time I tried to make it my own thing, so Pipobell was created! I found a picture on pinterest that I got some inspiration from for the model, so I tried so make something in the same vibe. I modelled this in Blender, and textured it with some stylized smart materials in Substance Painter! The design is heavily based on my new design hehehe.
I decided to rig the character very simple this time, so I let Mixamo do the work for me. Mixamo is a website that features many different 3D character animations, and it has this thing where it can create rigs for a humanoid looking model. It made the process of rigging very fast, but it can be unreliable at times because you don't know how it'll turn out with weightpaint influences! This is very technical talk I realize that lol, sorry about that! BUT! Like I said, Mixamo also has a lot of animations, which I used a lot for this video. You can actually test it out yourself! I attached the model I used in my video, an outlined version and a normal one, as well as the textures just in case. If you upload this into Mixamo you can see how the model moves to the animation of your choice! It's really fun! I wanted to use Mixamo instead of animating myself, because I just wanted to focus on learning the Blender stuff this time.
One specific video I was inspired by was the Orange Lounge MOBO MOGA MV, where they use chibi 3D models in a room. I wanted to try something like this, so I created a room in blender with a couch in the middle. The couch is actually the same white couch that I used in my first VRchat studio world! As I set up the scene and tested out some camera shots I got ideas of what kind of animations I wanted to do, so everything came to me very spontaneously. I could've created a story board or something like that, but I just winged it lol. It worked out alright I think!
This was my first time rendering in blender, but luckily it was pretty easy. Only thing I had to do was render lots of frames, usually like 200 per scene more or less, and put these into premiere pro. I put them into seperate folders so I could easily drag them all into the sequence at the same time, and nest them so they acted as one clip. There might be a better way of doing this, but this worked pretty well for me!
I also did all the text animations and the moving background animations in premiere pro as well! I feel I should've done it in After Effects but since I kind of hate After Effects, I went for the easy way of Premiere Pro this time :D I'll have to get back to After Effects some day, but this time wasn't the right time for that. :( I do think I got a decent enough result with Premiere Pro alone though, I tried to replicate the workflow used in After Effect by using Nesting as Comp, and using curves to animate with! More technical talk, but oh well :D
The result became very cool! I'm surprised it took as little time as it did, I speedran this process hahaha, but I feel I got lucky with ideas along the way. This video also has a very strong Icebell vibe, so maybe it was easier because of that... I hope you get to test out the model, it's a lot of fun to play around with! I also hope you liked it!!!!! This was my first Blender 3D MV, and it most likely won't be my last now that I know how that works. That was the idea behind this, test out making a music video, and then get knowledge enough to continue to build on and become STRONGER! As soon as my new model is done too I'll definitely do some more of this type of content!
Alright that's what I have for now, but if you have any questions like if there is anything you're curious about that I forgot to talk about, please don't be afraid to ask! Also for safety reasons I gotta write this: The models here are not allowed to be used for bad things, and is not allowed to be sold or distributed, they are for this patreon only!!! ok nice :D
PLS HAVE A GOOD NIGHT/DAY/TIME and I'll see you next time!!!!!
