The Legend of Korra 4x12 FULL REACTION

The Legend of Korra 4x12 FULL REACTION

Comments

??? It's not like they did it because they believed in the creative vision of Mike and Bryan. They wanted to capitalise on the Lord of the Rings hype with a fantasy series of their own. Money is all they care about For Korra they royally screwed them over, forcing them to either cut staff or cut episodes whilst putting the last two seasons to online only. Combine that with the fact they only comissioned 1 season initially, only to then tell them right at the end of that season they could have 3 more, AND that the episode scheduling was awful for both this and the original series run. I'll truly never understand corporation simping

Kc

Haha ya, fuck Nickelodeon, the company that funded two of your favorite shows.

Nathan Elkin

Was that Toph in her prime? I imagine Toph in her prime would be in her 30s or 40s. Maybe 50s

Yanpo

Zaheer ended a oppressive govt. And Kuvira prevented it being reinstated so that evens out. Zaheer did not re-distribute any wealth or put any systems in line to do so. He created a situation where people could murder, pillage and steal from each other without any authority to provide any attempt of safety or justice

Purple Hearts

And the crazy thing about that is, i'm pretty sure it's inferred in the comics that prime Bumi was better than both lol. Since, in the comics, Toph fights 100+ year old Bumi for title of strongest Earth Bender, and she wins, but just barely lol. Bumi in his prime was built different.

That Kuvira-centric episode that got cut really hurts her character tbh, i agree. Not the writer's fault of course, fuck Nickelodeon.

One can argue that all Zaheer and his gang were freedom fighting terroists, but at the end of the day Kuvira is an authoritarian dictator who ravaged entire ecosystems, created weapons of mass destruction, willingly devastate a populace that was in the midst of an evacuation she wasnt even aware of. Sure she brought order, but at what cost? Sure Zaheer brought freedom, but at what cost? They are both inexcusible evils. (But imo at least Zaheer redistributed wealth and dismantled an archaic oppressive government)

Liking Kuvira is just a different flavor of evil then liking Zaheer and his crew. Kuvira is in a battle with Milo on the opposing side. Zaheer attacked the Airbending temple and threatened to hurt all of Tenzin's kids including a younger Milo and the baby. P'li also shot her explosion at Kai and almost killed him. Zaheer kidnapped Korra when she was a todler. Kuvira is providing a better more stable life for her country and trying to reclaim all of its land including Republic city which was stolen and not returned after the 100 year war. The way she's taking it back through battle is how they lost it in the first place to the Fire Nation. Your right that she has done some horrible things to enemies and non Earth benders. Compared to that Zaheer's plan was just as selfish; more then people acknowledge. He destroyed an entire country and ruined peoples lives that depended on the structure and worked hard to make a better life for themselves and their families. People who were no longer protected from being robbed or murdered from bandits and criminals because Zaheer wanted chaos. Different cities and states terrorized by bandits with no authority to help. Starving children with no cooperation between towns to help support each other. All for Zaheer's ideal of "The natural order is disorder." They are both harmful to others in their own way and selfishly trying to make the world a better place from their own perspectives despite all the people they have to hurt to do it.

Kuvira is very strong. Its been stated by the creators of the show that kuviras skill and strength in bending is equal to Toph... IN HER PRIME. So Kuvira is not to be fucked with.

Literally trying to squash a small child to death and putting people in prison camps for seemingly no reason is pretty cartoonish imo. Don't get me wrong, I like Kuvira. I think she's a well written character and a much better one than her ATLA Ozai. But she needed more time to get fleshed out, as as it is the audience is given very little to sympathise with her goals.

Kc

She isn't really cartoonishly evil. It's just she doesn't care about the destruction she causes. That's arrogance and recklessness. More things that Kuvira and Korra have had in common.

Lorenzo Baxter

I think the single biggest issue with this season is the fact they never explore Kuvira as deeply as they did with Zaheer and even Amon tbh. It's very annoying as the original plan was to have an episode along the lines of Korra Alone for Kuvira, but because of the meddling from Nick they had to cut that episode and replace it with the clip show instead. Really would have done wonders for making her feel a little less cartoonishly evil than she does. One more week everyone. One more week till my favourite moment in TV history gets shown.

Kc

I hope they give us the ending too. It's time!
