2021-04-18 05:41:41 +0000 UTCSecond comment. Sorry I had a lot to say. I think the reason why Korra relates to Kuvira so much is, believe it or not, they both want the best for the kingdoms. Also, we have to remember that there is a ton of responsibility that comes with protecting and overseeing an entire nation -- which brings untold amounts of stress, fear, and paranoia. As a viewer, it's super easy for us to go, "fuck that bitch she evil," but we have to remember that dictators aren't just born from scratch; they're created from fear and uncertainty. But once again, like previous foes, Kuvira takes it to the extreme. Slavery, gaslighting, manipulation, and cognitive dissonance. Her obsessive need for law and order has turned her into a fascist dictator (ala Adolf Hitler). It's not about what's best for the people. It's about what SHE perceives to be best for the people. That's what makes her dangerous. There's a lot to criticize about this series, but one thing they've nailed really well is the villains. They're not just evil, for evil's sake. All their motives stem from good intentions.
